There is just something about the fall breeze as the seasons start to change during October every year. The new cross winds of the breeze rush across the face causing your senses to react. Those winds bring smells of dried or fruit bearing soil and plants that fill up the scent in the air. Sharing with you that the life around us is changing, too, as our Earth also reacts to the fall breeze.

The cooling weather reminds us that summer is over. A feeling of calm takes over as if the breeze is reassuring that the heat of summer is gone and the months of harvest and hibernation are ahead.

The early morning air slightly chills hands and faces. We might even grab that light sweater, a comfy cardigan or our favorite plaid top to embrace the coolness the mornings now bring.

Even our grocery stores share with us the changing of the seasons as they turn into little pumpkin patches. The spread of squashes, the overflowing abundance of grape varietals you haven’t seen all year, and the holiday decorations begin to take over.

Some stores overwhelm you with the smell of cinnamon and pumpkin wafting the air. Enhancing that mouth-watering sensation as we are enticed to bring home spice plus everything nice.

Then you can’t help yourself, there in your basket is an adorable pumpkin or a squash dotted with wart like bumps for decoration. A bottle of pumpkin pie spice or fresh cinnamon can get tossed in. And to top it all off, you might find pumpkin bread or pumpkin cereal in your cart because you know those won’t be on the shelves for long.

So, there it is, some spice plus everything nice.

Or is it?

When it comes to clothing and accessories, what is everything nice? Is it the comfy sweater and hot cup of tea that keeps you feeling cozy and warm? Or the oversized yarn knit into the perfect throw blanket that becomes a snuggle blanket?

Or the favorite plaid top as you imagine standing outside a cabin. You are soaking in the heat of the morning sun as the cool air of the forest mountain top surrounds you.

With that soft and thick layer of strips that decorate your wardrobe with patterns and colors that say: fall is here.

Of course, we have the traditional red and black plaid that is a staple for the closet of many men but why stop there? Add a simple blue and white color combo or that orange and black combo. To tone it down, add a mellow gray mingled with white that states - masculinity comes with a soft side.

It is a sweet pleasure for women, too. With more and more options for plaid in women’s tops. Add a few zippers or silver lined button snaps and entice her with a stylish plaid. Combine colors of purples, blues, yellows, reds, or pinks.

Plaid can bring out the mountain girl in her that roars - I am woman!

Plaid can also bring out her gentle nature with an embroidered flower on the shirt pocket that whispers - I am feminine!

And guess what girls… now we have plaid in purses and skirts!

Now really, I think this calls for a new trend in coordinated plaid wardrobes.

There is just something about wearing plaid. Could it be so hard to fall into plaid? Because there is just something about the fall breeze as the seasons start to change. It is that reassurance the cool breeze gives us and the way our favorite plaid feels as the breeze blows past.

It does not matter if you wear your plaid to the grocery store, while sipping tea on the couch with that snuggle blanket or during the forest get-away trip. The comfortable and stylish plaid will always be a way to welcome our fall seasons year in and year out. Just as we are enticed by spice plus everything nice, we will always fall into plaid.
