Clothing has always been gender-oriented, it has, from the beginning of time been different for men and women. This practice continues as we transcend into the age of modern fashion. Modern fashion is all about breaking the norms and doing things that are deemed out of the ordinary and making those unexpected things ordinary. We have seen these things grow on us over time. A perfect example of this can be seen with jewelry which was mainly focused on women but with time we have seen jewelry and piercings make its way to men. Nowadays you can find men wearing ear piercings, chains, and pendants. These things were not common in prior years, in fact, these things were known for their feminine qualities but with time we adjusted and now no one would bat an eye twice if you were wearing a chain or an ear-piercing.

Apart from these changes, there are still some articles of clothing that will not be changing genders soon. Clothing in the west is almost shared apart from a few occasional clothing items such as dresses for women and suits for men. Other than those western clothing has a very shared space with women and men wearing almost identical articles of clothing at the roots. The designs and patterns might vary but at their roots, these items are collectively the same. On the east side of the world, this is not the case. Men and women have very separate wardrobes. In this part of the world women and men might be equals but their dressing and clothing will always stay apart from each other. This is mostly the case with countries such as Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh These countries follow the old norms and stick to their culture and tradition with very minor changes over time. In these parts of the world, women stick to their side of the wardrobe wearing clothes such as Kurtis and lehengas and the men stick to their with their shalwar kurtas and sherwanis. These parts of the world have seen very few changes over time and even at this point if a person makes a different choice or chooses to wear something not commonly found in the country, they will certainly turn heads. On some occasions, it is almost mandatory to wear traditional clothes. Those events being shadis and Eid namaz. Western clothing has made a significant mark on these areas of the world as well but they still respect their culture and traditional clothing.

In these countries, the traditional clothing has generated a market of designer dresses as well. Over here traditional dresses are sometimes more expensive than regular western clothing and when you add the prestige of a brand and a celebrated designer the value of these traditional designer wear goes up. It has gotten to the point where it has become a global market for people of this side of the world who live on the other side. People who live in the west but have their childhoods spent on the east side still order shalwar kurtas and Kurti designs online by Diners. There are a ton of new designers bringing new and beautiful changes to the traditional eastern wear and the well-known ones have women's clothing stores and men clothing stores all over the country. Their clothes are worth very high than most traditional wear as they have a pristine of a brand attached to them and use the finest fabrics with beautiful embroidery designs. For special occasions wear such as weddings, these designer clothes can cost upwards of one hundred thousand rupees depending on the brand and the kind of clothing you choose. These brands sell exclusivity and culture all in one dress which makes their dresses valuable.

All around the world fashion has a different approach. Some people decide to show their culture and heritage in their clothing, others choose designs and patterns to represent theirs. Almost every country has a national dress which symbolizes their understanding of fashion and showcases it to the entire world. The people of each country are free to wear whatever they might like but there is a certain feeling of prestige and patriotism when a person wears their country’s national dress.
