Color Combos You Need for SS'19

Life isn't just black and white.

Are you an avid wearer of black? Are you an avid wearer of white?

Do you think black and white are the perfect color combination?

Well, I am here to change your mind.

This spring/summer 2019, colors are coming out to play.

I don't mean patterns or pastels, which everyone thinks is always on trend in the spring, but new and fresh takes on classics.

If you have an eye for trends, like me, you would have seen 'mint' come into the SS'19 picture right after Paris fashion week.

It was everywhere. I mean everywhere.

Outfits, shoes, bags, accessories... literally, everywhere.

BUT, for those true trend setters, you would have also seen the pairing of terracotta and mint.

A perfect pair? That is what we are here to digest. A digestion of color combinations that will have you digging in your closet for new and exciting pairings.

Terracotta and Mint:

Deemed by interior designers, the color of 2019 is cavern clay. It is just like terracotta, and so any of the colors that pair well with this natural tone, would also pair well with terracotta. Think blush pinks, mint greens, and deep blues. This warm, terracotta, with a slightly warm/cool mint, is a subtle way to jump into the world of color. This is a warm combo that would look great on any skin tone, and it is not too vibrant. You can also transition this combo into fall, so it would be worth the investment.

Pink/Blush and Red/Maroon:

In my opinion, this color combination is a classic. I first came to love this combo when I started working at Club Monaco. Blush and doe were recurring colors, and so when we would get a pop of color, such as red or maroon, we would always pair the two together. Even if you have a pink undertone to your skin, you can still pull off this color combo. If you are wanting to break up the color-blocking at all, I do recommend looking to basic add on colors, such as white, to complete this outfit. Rose gold jewelry is also a great add on piece for a bit of shimmer!

Pink and Orange/Brights with Brights

Some may say it's fake, but I am here to tell you it's real. In some of the most trending outfits of this SS'19 season, you will see all of the vibrant colors of the rainbow. (I blame Kasey Musgrave's song, "Rainbow," but that's just me!) Saturated colors are compliments of each other, yet so many people are scared to wear them at the same time. Instead of shying away from saturated/bright colors, think about how you can rock them and feel good wearing them. The more you wear color, the easier it gets. Trust me! Color can brighten a dreary day, so do not underestimate the power of the rainbow!

Living Coral

The Pantone color of the year, living coral, is an easy SS'19 color to add to your wardrobe. It can be paired with moss, turmeric, gold, cobalt, etc. Because it is a warm tone, you can wear it all year round, in my opinion. Pantone choosing a color every year is a great way for companies to influence consumers into buying an item they normally would not buy. If you pay attention to certain in-store displays and collaborations, you will see the Pantone color sneak in to just about every where. I really like this color and have added it to my wardrobe to wear this summer!

Getting Colorful

The easiest way to live colorfully is to start with accessories. If you’re someone who is afraid of straying from your black and white, just add a pop of color!

If any of the above color combinations are catching your eye, you can wear one of the colors as a base and add the complimenting color as an accessory.

It’s not every day that you need to wear color, but I guarantee that your mood will be boosted. You may even boost someone else’s mood around you!

If you did not know, there are "spirit colors." Just like a spirit animal, these spirit colors are colors you lean towards and that make you feel a certain way.

Colors evoke certain emotions. Through travel, for example, we gravitate towards places that features colors that we do not normally see. Personally, I gravitate towards clothing that feature bordeaux, olive, and red. These colors compliment my skin tone and make me feel subtly put together. My spirit color is "forest green," because I am outdoorsy, and I also believe that the color green makes my eyes pop. ;)

What are your favorite color combinations? What works best with your skin tone?
