Clothes For The Plus Size Girl

Cute and affordable...finally!

As someone who is plus size and prefers feminine clothing, it is hard to find cute things, at a decent price, and that fit well. You almost never get all three.

I have many articles of clothing that I have found on Wish. Knowing full well that the sizing is not American sizing and they almost never send what's in the picture, reading reviews is super important. I discovered only order clothes that buyers have provided their own pictures. You can see how the actual clothes fit on a person, and hopefully find someone with a similar body type to compare with. Being plus size, most of the time the pictures are of smaller people. I try to do my part and post my own reviews so hopefully someone will know if they should buy it.

Wish is ok. It's pretty hit and miss. It also seems prices have gone up, especially shipping. Rarely is something free shipping anymore and they never combine shipping so it adds ups. Lately, Facebook has been giving me, and many others, some crazy item suggestions. I am even in a few groups that everyone posts their wild and crazy Wish finds and ads. Of course, when you click on the ad to get more details, you start getting even more ads of like items. Then you just start going down the rabbit hole.

A website that doesn't seem to advertise on social media a lot, but I moved to to get away from Wish, is Aliexpress. It's the same concept of crazy sizing and not always getting what's pictured, but most of the time it is cheaper and their listings offer more details than Wish does. They run sales, combine shipping, lots of times will have coupons, and you can collect coins that you can trade in for coupons. You can even message a seller to ask questions. Before you order, it also tells you how many times that item has been ordered. Searching for the item you want is a lot easier as well; there is a neat function that allows you to upload an image and find the item, or items that look like it. If I find something in a Wish ad I like, I will check Aliexpress to see if it's there first. It almost always is.

Lately, I've been using Shein. They have tons of cute clothes. The great thing about them is they include sizing information on the model in the picture. This will include their measurements and the size they are wearing. It helps significantly to figure out if something will look good on you or not. The one issue I have had is the material the clothes will be made out of. Even pictures in reviews can't always show you, and sometimes the buyer won't say anything about the material content. I have had more luck with Shein than the other two sites. They even have it so you can specifically look at what they have in plus sizes and select your size so you don't get disappointed seeing something awesome that you can't wear.

These sites sell a lot more than clothes. They have accessories, toys, housewares, pots for plants, adult only items, and many more. As with really any site, it is really important to read reviews. If it hasn't been reviewed, there is probably a reason for it. Most of the clothing they have is in "straight sizes"; about an XS-large. When something is in the plus sizes, it will go up to a 5xl (about a 3xl in American sizes). While there are definitely people in sizes bigger than this, they are pretty inclusive for companies that normally don't have bigger sized people in their culture. All of them do have return policies, but with shipping taking so long, unless it's something really expensive, you're better off selling it or gifting it to a friend.

There are of course plus size stores that you can go to in person. Torrid being the most popular, Lane Bryant, and Catherine's just to name a few. With the pandemic going on, most won't let you try on clothes. You can always check them out online to see their sizing guides. If you don't have a tape measure already, they are about a dollar in most stores.

I hope this helps a few people who might be questioning some of these sites. No matter your size, go check out what they have. I'm sure you will find something you like. If you don't, you will definitely get a laugh out from some of the things you see.
