With the development of society and the economy, people have started to pay more attention to the pursuit of spirituality and self-consciousness. After all, there are more and more people with unique personalities, and those popular things are indeed less "special" for such people. But there are so many emerging brands, are they all considered niche? Or rather, what is considered a niche brand?

1/The brand is short-lived and less known

In 2009, there was a new watchmaking star rising in Bill, Switzerland, one of the central cities of the watchmaking industry, and it was Odor, the founder of CODEX Odor is a former DIOR executive "Mr. Rene Kohl", because of a clever exchange opportunity, he and Piaget marketing director Ms. Laurence Courts, Zenith, and the brand's founder, Mr. Rene Kohl. He and Ms. Laurence Courts, marketing director of Piaget, Mr. Eric Alba, designer of Zenith, and Ms. Cecile Magnon, executive of the supply chain agency, tacitly agreed on the same watchmaking philosophy and gave birth to CODEX Saute Horologic, with the ambition to create a watch art that touches the public experience. Normally, many watch lovers have not heard of this brand, as it is still a very young brand in the watch industry, despite being founded 13 years ago.

Most of the time, the length of time a brand has been around being proportional to its popularity. The longer a brand has been around, the more likely it is to be known, while on the other hand, a brand that has been around for a short time is not easy to raise awareness. In fact, for the brand, "niche" means that the target audience is relatively small, if possible, probably no brand wants to do "niche".

In 2012, Odor officially entered the domestic market, and in 2021, Odor joined the Swiss Watch Association, which means that the brand has been recognized by the world.

2/ Bold and new design, high recognition

The designer of Odor once said, "From the moment I put pen to paper, I knew that what I wanted to create was a watch that combines the passion for time with impeccable quality, a watch with a distinguished style and unique genes."

Brands that are memorable and instantly recognizable have one or more iconic designs. The "X" is the defining element of the Saute Horologic watch.

The 8118 is named "SHADOW", with a silhouette like the shadow of a beast in the darkness of the night.

The "X" element is everywhere on the watch: the brand logo at noon, the "X" at the end of the red small second's hand, and, of course, the strap, which also bears the brand's "X The "X" logo is also printed on the strap. Together with the dial, it reminds me of the X-Men, and the overall design of the watch is full of passion and dynamism.

The dial is a skeleton so that every movement of the movement's gear train can be seen in front of the wearer's eyes, and the charm of the mechanical movement is hard to resist.

If there is one design on the dial that has the most passion and dynamism, I would say it is the red indexes. This design is very effective in enhancing the style of the watch, full of passion as if the next second you put it on you could be riding a motorcycle.

For something new, this 8118 has a metal calendar dial that is very rare on the market, and mind you, calendar dials are not common on skeleton watches. The date display on this watch is circled in a red wire frame with gray lettering on a white background, making it very eye-catching.

Careful watchmakers may notice a circle of numerals on the dial, which is one of the highlights of this watch, incorporating the 31 dates into the dial, obscuring the movement and making the watch even more mysterious.

3/ A niche may be more qualitative

What kind of brand can be a hit with everyone who doesn't know much about it? Maybe it's the texture in the hand, which doesn't feel cheap, but rather a sense of value for money.

The Identity 8118 watch is made of titanium for the case, crown, case back, and clasp, a very light material that is often used to make structural parts for rockets, missiles, and high-speed aircraft, and is an emerging watchmaking material for the bezel in recent years. It is also the material that allows the watch to remain very light and not weigh down at all when worn with a diameter of 44 mm and a thickness of 12.9 mm.

4/ Exquisite craftsmanship

Every part of a Howe watch is designed, manufactured, and imported from Switzerland. The "Swiss made" mark on each watch is a guarantee of quality.

For a watchmaking brand, in-house movements are a symbol of the brand's independent watchmaking strength and the best way to showcase its watchmaking skills, so many watch enthusiasts are particularly interested in whether a watch is equipped with an in-house movement.

Although the previous models released by Howdah are all Swiss movements, they are not made in-house, and most of them only have a power reserve of 38 hours, which may be a bit short for modern watchmaking habits. However, Odor has never stopped developing and researching the movement, and after countless tests, it finally, without fail, launched its first watch with an in-house movement, which is the Odor Identity Series 8118 SHADOW Shadow which we are introducing to you today.

Inside this 8118 watch is the mechanical self-winding movement XX-M09A, produced by Odor. Unlike its predecessors, this watch has a very noticeable improvement in power reserve, providing a power reserve of up to 65 hours when fully wound, which is up to the standard of a weekend watch.

The movement is also superior anti-magnetic, so you don't have to worry too much about the effect of electronics on the accuracy of the watch when you wear it every day. With an oscillating frequency of 28,800 hp and a daily variation of 20 s/d, this movement reflects the profound technical capacity of the Swiss watchmaking industry and is a major step in its evolution from a "niche" to a "popular" and "mature" brand. It is also a big step from a "niche" to a "popular" and "mature" brand.

The details of the movement are carefully polished, including the balance plate, and the balance wheel is decorated with the brand logo.

Before I saw this watch in real life, I probably had the same thought as everyone else: What brand is Saute Horologic? Why should I choose it at such a price? But the moment you get the watch in your hands, you can find many reasons for it: the young and fashionable appearance, the passionate and dynamic style, the quality of the case and strap, and the mysterious in-house movement through the skeleton dial.
