Who takes the top spot?

Yup! It's another style ranking today. I know you guys love these so every Thursday, I'm going to do a new one.

In today's world, the new generation (or I don't know who) has coined this new term: New Nollywood.

It's supposed to represent a new wave of Nigerian film and television. A time of better camera, more city-based urban storylines, less melodrama...a Nollywood that is more "export-ready" if you will.

This term is used most of the time to contrast against 'Old Nollywood' that was very full of melodrama, witch-craft and poisoning storylines, stories heavily rooted in the Christian faith i.e. a lot of 'To God Be The Glory' films.

Personally, I think both of these Nollywoods are great. I don't think it's fair to look down on the 'Old Nollywood' because let's face it, it was this Old Nollywood that paved the way for the new talent we have today. Those movies as cheesy and sometimes cheap as they look now still have very strong storylines and are still very much wildly entertaining to watch.

Today's article is however not a debate on Old Nollywood vs New Nollywood, rather it is a Style List.

Today, I've compiled for you a list of 12 Most Stylish 'New Nollywood' Actors and yes, we're going to make it more fun and rank them from number 12 to number 1.

Wanna see who claims that top spot? Then let's dive in below.

12. Timini Egbuson

Timini Egbuson is one of those people who has been working so long and we've seen so frequently now, that it's often easy to forget that he's still very much part of the New Nollywood era.

He shot to major prominence starring in the Nigerian TV Series, Shuga, and has since gone on to feature in major Nigerian productions from Fifty to Elevator Baby and Skinny Girl in Transit.

Timini is also a young man that likes to look good, and his sense of style is exquisite.

11. Nonso Bassey

Nonso Bassey came into our radars when he contested on the first season of The Voice Nigeria, and then went on to snag a major part in Africa Magic's Battleground.

Nonso has taken his acting profession very seriously and has since gone on to be in movies such as From Lagos with Love and the upcoming La Femme Anjola.

Nonso is also very prominent on Instagram for his stylish pictures.

10. Shawn Faqua

Shawn Faqua is one of the new Nollywood actors that's doing it big. In the little time he's been in the industry, he's been able to land himself roles in big blockbuster movies such as 2016's Ojukokoro and 2018's King of Boys, and God Calling.

The actor who is a phenomenal actor also cleans up nicely. What do you think?

9. Olumide Owuro

Olumide Owuro is another young actor best known for his role as Tari in the Africa Magic series, The Johnsons.

The actor who started working at the age of six has featured in a number of renowned Nollywood productions such as Shuga, Kyaddala, and A Soldier's Story.

Olumide also has some serious style don't you think?

8. Soma Anyama

20 year old Soma Anyama may have been the first one out of the house in the second edition of Big Brother Nigeria, but since then, the young talent has gone on to forge a career for himself in both music and film.

As an actor, Soma landed himself guest spots in some high-profile Nigerian TV series such as Jenifa's Diary and Shuga.

Plus, homeboy cleans up nicely.

7. Kunle Remi

Kunle Remi has made a name for himself in the Nollywood industry. Early on in his career, he was too quickly type cast as the "tempter", the boy that the madam can simply not resist. But after grinding and hustling for other roles, Kunle quickly showcased his diversity and has gone on to play many different roles that wonderfully show off his acting talent.

He's featured in huge productions such as Omotola's Alter Ego, Out of Luck, and Gold Statue.

In the style department, Kunle also does his thing. I mean, check him out.

6. Chike

We first saw Chike on Project Fame West Africa in 2015, but more prominently in The Voice Nigeria Season 1 where he placed as the first runner up in the show.

Although entering the industry as a singer, Chike was able to snag a career-defining role in Africa Magic's hit TV show Battleground.

Chike got very very popular in large part due to his looks and style, and what can we say, the boy does have style.

5. Falz

Nigerian singer, Falz, surprised his fans when he took a detour into acting. Since his time as an actor, Falz has acted in major TV projects. He starred heavily in the very popular TV show, Jenifa's Diary, and has also starred in movies such as Merry Men and Chief Daddy, both of which were record breaking movies.

Falz also sometimes likes to break our necks on Instagram. His style is impeccable.

4. Somadina Adinma

Somadina started out as a child actor starring in movies like Speak The Word and Forest of Promises, but he's all grown up now. Despite the fact that we haven't seen him in anything major in recent years, Somadina is still growing his internet following, and that's in large part due to his fashion style.

I mean, the boy has style.

3. Ben Touitou

Ben Touitou is one of the new boys that is tooting very well the 'New Hollywood' horn. Ben's acting talent has landed him roles in movies and shows such as Lagos Cougars and Desperate Housegirls.

Men's fashion doesn't have a whole lot of options: at the end of the day, it's mostly shirts and trousers. But Ben accessorizes well. He wears colors and fabrics that are bold and overall, the boy just has an exquisite sense of style.

He is a strong face for 'New Nollywood' and in the wardrobe department, the boy is also throwing down! Simple yet very elegant.

2. Alvin Abayomi

Alvin Abayomi is killing it in the acting game. The boy has been able to star in major blockbusters such as Moms at War, Kasala, and Kasanova.

He is definitely a boy on the rise, and we cannot deny the fact that his sense of style is sick! Always a rocking a nice pair of shades, Alvin cleans up very nicely. The boy is definitely on to greater things in his career.

1. Denola Grey

Okay, Denola Grey has an unfair advantage over all these other boys because he started out his career in Nollywood being a fashion correspondent, and style icon.

The young man is not afraid to try on new and out there designs. He is also very much at the fore front of major styling events and red carpets in Nigeria.

Only recently did he switch over to acting. He has since gone on to act in some major productions such as Castle and Castle, and The Bling Lagosians. If Denola didn't get the number 1 position, I'd just be lying. Which other person was gonna get it?

That's All.
