Every dog owner wants to make sure that their furry friend is 100% happy. They have natural smiles all the time, and when they do not, then you never know what could be running through their head. There happens to be a ton of different ways that every pet parent can make sure their dog is happy while you are traveling with them.

The first recommendation would be to check out and follow Dr. Marty Pets on Facebook as well as any other pet sites that interest you because they all have very vital information that you may find useful for your own animals. You always think about what you eat on trips, but you don’t think about the nutrients your dog would need while vacationing.

Keeping Them Entertained

Dogs love to be entertained. By playing with them regularly or walking them to the park, it creates bonding time for you and your furry friend. There are dog parks all around throughout different cities as well as plenty of areas at regular local parks that you could use to have doggy and me time period. If you try to find parks while traveling, it will help your dogs get out the energy that is building up, especially when road tripping.

If you find yourself going through chew toys like bags of potato chips, then allow it to happen. Your dogs love to destroy certain things, and if they are keeping it to their toys and staying away from your shoes, then go to the dollar store and purchase as many squeaky toys that you are willing to stock away.

Keeping Them Clean on Vacation

Most dogs enjoy being groomed, especially when it comes time to brush their fur. Grooming goes a lot further than just a good brush though. It can require you to clip their nails, press their teeth and gums, and bathe them. If you have a super fluffy dog, then shaving and maintaining their fur could also be a benefit, but keep in mind that not all fluffy dogs will have their hair grow back if shaved.

Give Your Dogs Attention

If you’re taking your dog on your trip, it is important to give them the attention they need. It’s easy to forget about the pets while you are traveling around, but they need to be loved still. A dog will always be happy when they are spoken to. When they hear how much you love them while receiving the best belly rub that they can get, it completes their day. Any kind of attention that they perceive as positive will always put a smile on their face and a wiggle in their butt.

Bring Treats

Dogs are always happy when they receive treats, which is why you should always try to keep healthy ones on hand for any occasion. One perfect snack for your dog would be a puppy popsicle. Not only is it good to keep them cool during the summer months, but it will also keep them hydrated. Puppy popsicles are frozen fruit within a frozen piece of ice, all of it loaded on a stick. Some other really great ideas for snacks are plenty of fruits and vegetables like apples, bananas, carrots, sweet potatoes, and many other options.

Try to Have a Schedule

It can be hard to remember what day it is on vacation, let alone have a schedule. If you keep a schedule when you’re on a trip, your dog won’t act out. The number one thing that a dog owner should always keep in mind is that they always remember routines, so if you slack on anything that they know is a regular, daily event, they will let you know that you messed up. If feeding time is supposed to be at 5 o'clock there, they will bring you their bowl at 4:55 if they have been around long enough to understand. If you require your dog to be walked by 6 PM, you can be sure that your dog will be grabbing their leash around that time and telling you that it's time to go.
