What I Have Learned From The Dogs In My Life

Dogs can be good teachers, to those who want to be good 'Pack Members', by which I mean, useful members of Society.

Dogs work together well, and work to help people as well, and such willingness to help is an admirable, and useful thing in a community. If all help others, what a fine life could be lived by everyone living there.

Dogs also know the value of a good resting spot, and of sleeping whenever you can. In the wild, as dogs were, before deciding to work with mankind, the world was a dangerous place, and falling asleep a dangerous thing, when unable to keep an eye out for danger. Being with others who could keep watch, while you rested was great, and you did the same thing for the others, all being able to get a good sleep when it was their turn.

And dogs also know a big job can work much better, when you have friends involved to help out. Catching big prey items for instance, needed mates to take up the chase if you got too tired, or to cut off the chosen 'dinner' at the pass. And when you have a heap of food available, isn't it great to share it with friends, so nothing is wasted! And when your friends have lots of food, they'll invite you along for a feed too, right? Right!

And of course, when it's play time, playing with your friends is so much more fun, than playing by yourself! No matter what the game is, playing it with others is usually the best way to go!

And when something good happens, connecting up with friends, to tell them about it is great, isn't it? So much fun to tell them all about it, when they're happy for you in your success! Well, I'm not absolutely sure dogs have success, the way humans do, but going back to the prey items, you can see that, to some extent.

And when things are going bad, with others arriving who don't like you, and want to fight with you, that's when having those buddies on your side can be a winning situation for you. Your 'pack' will stand up for you, and when you can all join together against an 'enemy' you are more likely to win, and get out of it without too much trouble.

You care for your 'pack' and they care for you. You celebrate the good times together, and commiserate over the bad times. Nobody gets left out, and everyone is invited to the feast, when it happens! And having such a creature in my life, a dog who seems to love me, and care about me, what an awesome thing that is.

When I get home, after being out, my dog is always there, with a wagging tail, and a bit of a canine smile, and she brings me joy. So I am always happy to go and get her dinner for her, or provide a new bed for her, when the old one wears out!

Our dog Missy loves her new bed!

Missy the dog in the picture above has brought much joy to my life, and so we are so happy to give her the things she wants and needs, and she seems happy to do things with us too, happy things, accepting pats, and treats we love to give to her! So when Missy tried to kill a venomous snake, some years back, we were more than happy to rush her to the vet, to keep her alive.

It was worth the money, because Missy is a much loved member of our 'pack'!
