Meet Hope 💙

It all started when my coworker at Vocal, Chelsea, brought in a foster dog to our pet-friendly office. Jake and I had previously decided that we were pushing our dog deadline to Spring of 2022, because Hurricane Ida decided to put my 2012 Corolla out of commission. So, a new car purchase took over our minds and our budgets.

Then, Hope happened.

I MEAN LOOK AT HIM ❤️

Hope strolled into my office and I couldn't stop thinking that this was fate. I would keep wondering to myself:

"Isn't this what we've wanted all along; to be dog parents to a sweet rescue?"

One text later to Jake, and within a week he & Hope officially met. One month later, he was ours! Now, none of this happened overnight. Jake and I had many conversations about the responsibility of adopting a dog and what we would need to do in order to make it happen. This wasn't just about us anymore, it now was about what is best for Hope.

We had given ourselves a deadline of Fall 2021 originally to rescue a dog, which you may remember from a previous story of mine:

Yes, we were searching for a boxer, but we are also just as in love with pit bulls, and Hope is definitely mixed with boxer and bulldog (or at least that's my theory).

We realized that this really did seem like fate, and we fell so in love with Hope that we decided to take the next step and adopt him! We couldn't be happier with our decision and we know that this was the right call for our little family. I mean, how could we say no?

Hope's Story

Hope was an owner-surrender. My coworker, Chelsea, literally saved his life from euthanasia. He was neglected, forced to stay outside all day due to his previous "owner," he was malnourished, scarred, starved, and sitting in a New York City kill shelter. He's estimated to be either 5 or 6 years old. Once Chelsea saved him and worked with the Pound Hounds Res-Q to foster him, he was finally able to be a happy pup. Not only that, but he's now been given a chance to just be a dog and is finally able to trust his owners.

Now!

He still needs to put on a few pounds!

More Photos:

It's pretty insane to me how some can negatively stigmatize pit bull breeds. I think this photo below on its own shows just how sweet they are!

He loves Jake so much, and he's such a cuddle bug (Hope, not Jake. Well, Jake is too, actually 🐶).

He'll let me dress him up too! I would've submitted a story to our Critter Costume Challenge, but Hope's head was a little too big for his costume.

I swear we also take him on lots of walks - he doesn't just sleep all day!
