Winston & Dad

This is a photo of me (a very proud dog dad) having a relaxing day with my boy Winston (the pup).

The challenge says capture the wild which is ironic cause this photo was taken in a studio set but hey you got plants in the background so close enough.

Now lets get into the nitty-gritty details of this Image:

First it is important to note that this was an actual photo shoot set.

Secondly, despite the final result turning out to be epic, the process most certainly wasn’t as pretty as you can imagine.

This whole shoot had a team of 2; myself and the ever-helpful pup Winston

It was on a warm Saturday afternoon and we had spent all morning picking out clothes, props, discussing themes and ideas we were trying to create.

Once we figured out all the details, we drove about 5 kilometres to the set of the shoot which was basically a lounge we had booked beforehand.

On getting there we were both excited and jumped out of the car. We went in and requested the keys to the set we would be using.

By the way, Its customary to say hello when you meet people, especially when they don’t know you and you’re on their property! So that’s exactly what we did.

Actually, let me be honest, I wasn’t feeling too social, so I let Mr Winston (the pup) take care of that for us. Teamwork makes the dream work, am I right?

Sure enough, he did not disappoint. He wagged his tail, approached the front desk, put out his paw and shook everyone like a true diplomat.

Once we got the keys, we let ourselves into the set and started setting up.

Was that a pun? No pun intended! Gosh I’m so unintentionally funny. Sorry, lets move on.

We put our bags down and started to unpack, one bag contained clothes and camera gear while the other contained toys and treats.

PSA(Public service announcement): If you ever plan a pet photoshoot, always bring treats cause umm its rude not to & more importantly, you need to bribe your pet to stay put for each pose.

Seriously! Thank me later, don’t learn this the hard way

& OMG if you have a cat, you wont get the opportunity to learn from your mistake cause you’ll be dead. Not Kidding.

Once we had everything taken out, we arranged the studio set, moved furniture around, arranged props etc

Once that was completed, we then put on the external lights/soft box to get some good quality lightening.

Finally, we had everything set to taste and all that was left was to do the actual shooting.

We put on our clothes, jewelry/accessories and then had our model pep talk where we tell ourselves that were beautiful and amazing and awesome.

Things were looking good. We were ready………... Except we forgot to stretch/exercise, so I spent the next couple mins chasing Mr Winston around the set.

Once I finally caught him/tired him out, he let me carry him to the set. Whew!

While Winston sat, I set my Cannon 80D camera on a tripod, set the timer, set settings to continuous shooting cause Winnie could be a crackhead sometimes and wont sit still, this way we can get at least one good photo.

I adjusted other camera settings i.e. aperture, ISO to get a desirable display, ran to the set, picked up Winston and told him to smile

He didn't smile so unfortunately no cute dog smiley photos but here’s a close second.

We agreed to post this one out of many cause we agreed that we both look amazing.

We hope you like it too!

Love Winston & Dad
