The 3-legged stray cat meets a lonely old man

From then on, we entered the cycle of love

Today's story is about a 3-legged orange cat.

His name is Nubby and he comes from New York Province, Canada.

Until 2012, Nubby was roaming the streets.

He had only 3 legs and a broken tail.

Every day, he scavenged for food in various garbage piles, fought with other feral cats for food, looking for shelter in the cold winter, and never experienced the feeling of being loved.

Until nine years ago, he stumbled into a family's kitchen by mistake.

The man in that home was Boyd, a retired grandfather.

One day in 2012, Boyd was preparing to leave food for another stray cat around.

After putting the cat food in the bowl, he went into the bedroom and came out again to find an additional 3-legged orange cat in the kitchen, eating the food he was going to leave for another cat.

Seeing the kitten with only 3 legs gobbling, he knew it was starving.

The life of a stray cat was hard enough, and Boyd could hardly imagine how this disabled kitten could survive in the wild.

He was so distressed that he kept the door of his house open for him and prepared an extra portion of food for him every day.

Slowly, the old man and the cat became acquainted.

The cat would appear at the old man's house every day on time, playing with his cat Season and waiting for the meal together.

When Season passed away, the old man was worried that without a playmate, the orange cat might not come back.

But he did not expect that the cat not only still came to report on time every day, but also stayed in his house for longer and longer.

He named the cat Nubby and looked forward to seeing it every day.

Nubby was a reluctant cat to get close to people, but he trusted the old man alone.

He would jump on the old man's knee and lean with him.

He would climb directly onto the old man's chair and sleep on it.

The old man wanted to adopt him, but Nubby didn't want to stay indoors for too long and struggled to get out.

The old man had no choice but to let him go, expecting that he would come back the next day.

The old man's daughter said that during that time, both the old man and the cat gave each other the most important things.

The old man gave the cat food, and the cat gave the old man the companionship he needed most.

At that time, the old man's daughter moved further away, and the old man's grandson moved away.

"Eventually my dad was left alone... He and Nubby developed a deep bond, and the two of them were very close. He was his friend and his companion at night."

"They loved each other so much, and even though one was a cat and one was a human, they both had a really special bond. I think Nubby was what got my dad out of bed every morning."

Sadly, however, the elder passed away in 2017.

Before he passed away, he kept thinking about Nubby, fearing that he would have no one to take care of him and that he would be bullied and specifically instructed his daughter to take good care of him.

But after the old man's death, Nubby came only once and never showed up again.

The old man's woman would leave food at the door every day, but when she visited again every night, the food hadn't been touched at all.

For the next two years, Nubby disappeared and no one knew where it had gone and no one ever saw it again.

The old man's family was worried, but searched all over for it and could not find it.

As time passed, they feared that Nubby might have died in an accident or been frozen to death in the wild in some cold winter.

However, Bobby's story doesn't end here.

In 2019, two years after his evaporation, the old man's neighbor Ray saw Nubby again near Boyd's house.

It looked older and weaker than before.

Ray made plans to catch Nubby and send it to a warmer place for the winter.

But after months of trying, the cat-catching plan failed.

It was a blizzard in New York and it was freezing outside, so Ray lost sleep at night worrying about Nubby when he was still out on the streets.

At that time, Boyd's house had a new owner, who happened to be afraid of cats.

But Ray couldn't care less. He knocked on the new owner's door and said to her, "Please, if you see Nubby next time, please let her in, day or night, as soon as she gets in, you call me and I'll come to get her anytime."

The next day, the phone rang.

"It's coming into the kitchen!"

Ray rushed over, coaxed it into its cage, and took it to the local cat shelter.

When he first entered the shelter, Bobby's entire cat was curled up in a ball, lying face down in the cage.

Dehydrated, weak, scared, and in such poor health that the vet said if he had been brought in any later, he might not have survived the winter.

Sarah was a volunteer at the shelter at the time, and she fell in love with Nubby the first time she saw him.

"He looked so miserable at the time, but then he had dog-like innocent eyes and was the sweetest thing I'd ever seen."

"I've seen countless cats, probably hundreds a year, but there was something very special about Nubby.

It makes me want to age him, to spoil him, to spend every second of the rest of his meowing life in love."

Sarah took good care of Nubby, and when he was almost well enough, she took him to her home.

Later, Boyd's daughter, Wise man, also found out about Bobby's current condition through a post at the shelter.

She contacted Sarah and wanted to pick Nubby up and take him back to her home.

But after seeing how incredibly close Nubby and Sarah were together, she finally decided to allow Sarah to adopt.

After entering Sarah's home, Nubby never asked to go out this time.

Accompanied by several meow brothers, he quickly adapted to his new environment.

Sunbathing.

Sleeping.

heating the oven.

He especially likes to cling to Sarah and let her pet him.

Every morning when he wakes up and every night before he goes to sleep, he makes a satisfied purr purr sound.

Love it, not only Sarah and her boyfriend.

The family of Ray, who put him in the shelter, and Boyd, the old man who had previously fostered him, have always remembered him.

Ray will visit Nubby from time to time and bring him some gifts.

Boyd's daughter even runs to Sarah's house whenever she can, bringing him staples and snacks he can eat.

Nubby is surrounded by the love of three families.

But unfortunately, Nubby only enjoyed this wonderful life for a year or so.

Last month, Nubby passed away due to cancer.

The news broke the hearts of many of his followers.

But we are also glad that

He was loved by so many people at the end of his life.
