dog
It's no coincidence that a dog is a man's best friend; they're more faithful than most other animals, and more faithful than many people.
My Catahoula Saved My Life
I like to believe that my dog saved me from getting run over by a car. Now before you go grumbling, she was, in fact, the catalyst for my not being in the path of a rogue minivan that crashed into my house. Yet whether or not she had some sort of mystic premonition or just a hungry tummy can never be determined.

I saw this challenge days ago and my instinct was to shut my laptop, let the sadness fester for weeks, and return to it, at a later date. Well, the later date is now and I have two hours to deadline. Procrastination, one of my greatest features. This one has lived up to the word "challenge" as this may be the most difficult and beautiful article I have ever had to write.

Thinking about Leo, my dog, always brings a smile to my face. It has been over two years since we got him home, but every day feels like a new day with him.

Batman is my aunt's dog and I see him every time I come out to the US. He's a special boy in just about every sense of the term.
Spaniel's Weather
We went camping once in the cold of January at Devil's Den Park. Just my husband, myself, and our cocker spaniel, Sage. We had visited previously and were eager for a chance to return before my PTO expired. Camping with a dog can be a hefty endeavor, but it never is with Sage. She is one of the few perfect creatures in the world with a quiet demeanor and obedient heart.

This “tale” is about how our furry family member became my mother’s guardian angel with the age-old saying, “a dog’s bark is worse than its bite.

We don't deserve dogs. This is a universal fact. They are loyal, funny, quirky and are endlessly comforting. And yes, occasionally frustrating. Especially when they pee on the couch. Or chew on the expensive running shoes you finally bought yourself (that was a dark day).

Anyone who owns a dog wonders what dog heaven must look like. Would it be an exact image of their life, as they love us so profoundly? Perhaps it’s filled with unlimited food, chew toys, and squirrels? I’ve imagined all those options…that is until I decided to adventure with my two dogs.

I didn't develop anxiety until my early twenties. Prior to that, I had sincerely believed that people who claimed to have anxiety were over-exaggerating and being dramatic.

Picking just one fond memory is hard when you have soo many. You have years of memories, 12 years too short. I had twelve years with my best friend before he had to go. But I think one of my favourite memories would have to be the morning after a big snowstorm a few years ago. I got the day off work because there was no way I was getting to work at all. So, I opened up the back door to let my dog out. It was hard to open the door since all the snow piled up against it.

My five month old puppy, Marley, traveled hundreds of miles and took days to arrive home to us. We had waited so long for the perfect addition to our family. She immediately fit right in and seemed to take to our lifestyle very quickly. I am sure every pup parent feels like theirs is the smartest puppy ever, but we really lucked out with this one.

He ran through the street, I couldn't breathe, chasing after him with a laugh nearly suffocating me as I pumped my legs harder to keep up with his somehow smaller, yet faster ones.
