Rusty Bones

Halloween is the best time of the year for dress-up, especially when the furry friend gets into it.

Halloween is the best time to have fun with the whole family, that is also including the furry family members that have no choice but to put up with us when we dress them up.

Our furry friend Rusty is the best for letting us dress him up. Even if he really doesn't want to. The kids thought it would be fun to Halloween with him since they have to walk him anyway. But this year Rusty was fun to dress. We really got creative and did him up perfectly. His costume is special, he was the skeleton that glowed in the night. We had to use this special paint that was lickable. He kept licking it off and we had to keep putting it on.

It was after a while a bit much and running low once he really got into licking it off. But he tired out of licking it and actually got to keep it on. It was funny though, his tongue was glowing too. I could imagine what happens when he goes to the washroom, would that glow too? I'm sure it might, we had to see when Rusty went.

It took a while for the paint to start glowing, but once it did, he looked great. He was just the right black for it too. The night came and there was our little freaky skeleton. He looked wonderful and the night with the kids went so well. We got a lot of people wanting to take pics of Rusty and the kids. I had to laugh because after the trick and treating it was time to wash off the paint. Rusty didn't want to bathe. He usually climbed into the tub on his own, but this time we had to chase him around the house. So, instead of chasing I just waited for him to lay down, but I had to plan ahead so he couldn't take off on me. I ran the tub and then went to grab him. It was the best way or he would have taken off on me again.

I really think Rusty wanted to stay in the paint, he sure liked the attention and all the pets he received from everyone who was out tricking and treating. He was the best-dressed pet out there this year. He was so funny, he was so well behaved too. It was an awesome Halloween with the family, and the kids really enjoyed themselves this year too. The candy they got would last all year. They had so much, that we the parents had to dip into the bag too. I haven't had candy-like that ever since I was a kid and even then we didn't have the fancy, cool candies like kids have now.

Halloween was a huge hit in our home, from the decosrations scattered all around the yard and through the house. We had hanging ghosts, goblins, witches, and some other creepy, scary hanging decorations. Then lets not forget about the pumpkins that we all carved. We had about 15 pumpkins this year. The kids grew them in our garden and of course they all had to be carved. We have this tradition that if we don't let all the pumpkins get carved and if we leave out any then our house will have bad luck and get visited by the Jack'o Latern King and he will curse us all. It's just this story the kids heard and now its part of the Halloween tradition in our house too.

Jack 'O Lanterns outside our house

The pumpkins had been carved by all of us and they ranged from scary to silly. It was a lot of pumpkin guts to clean up. We had pumpkin seeds for a long time. They were all cleaned and then they were all baked. It was a great snack. The seasoning wwe had used was our cooking spices and WOW! what a yummy treat. Jack the pumpkin king would have been really happy to know that alll his family was used up in every way. It's funny.

We had a great Halloween and again next year. It's going to be just a fun. We have a lot planned for next year. We are going to be making our own creepy creations for next year and not buy so many. Thank goodness for Google and the ideas we got for next year. I thought why buy so many when most of them we could just make ourselves and save so much money too. It's really expensive if you actually add everything up. Holy Smokes! But it is for a good reaason, and who doesn't like to have fun and go all out for Halloween. Its the only time of the year that you can get all dressed up and go creeping around the neighbourhood. In a safe and fun way that is.

Well, can't wait to see what the kids have in mind for their costumes next year. This year we had a princess ghoul and some kind of demon with glowing red eyes and a voice changing box thing in his mask. It was really creepy at night. All you could really see was his mask and just his silhoutte. It was my son's idea and he sure was scary and creepy. He had put it on the night before and came down to livingroom. He shut off the lights and turned all the other lights off and turned on that mask. "OH MY GOSH," it was scary as heck the first time. He turned on thatvoice changing box and started talking in this demon voice, yup, he had to take it off real quick. What they make for kids nowadays. Whoever came up with that idea, really has a strange imagination of scary, but it works. It was scary, and my son is never supposed to wear that in the house.

Halloween is one of those occasions that I can't wait for and then when it is over, I can't wait to put it away again. I had enough for this year and all the undressing of the decorations, I couldn't believe that we had so many. It took us forever it seemed to take it all down. But it was fun either way. And until next year, it was sure one of those crazy Halloweens that we forget in our household. Have a great Halloween everyone, see you all again next year. Be safe and don't eat any candy until your parents check it all, there are creeps out there and you just have to be careful. Have fun everyone.
