The Splatter

Dawn finally emerged as you sit down next to the window in your large green chair. Your little bird sits in his cage staring out of the window making a small cute chirp every few seconds. You know the bird loves the mornings.

But you often wonder if its happy just getting the sun rays from inside, or if it really wants to go outside. You have had the bird for years, and not once has it been able to go outside. You're also not sure if the wings are clipped.

However, you love this little bird, and knew that one day it would be gone. It is in the way the bird looked longingly through the window that makes you consider if you should take it out or not.

Readers Poll: Choose carefully to decide your path on what to do with the your adorable bird. Do you…

A: Read a book about birds?

B: Take it out of the cage?

C: Feed it some seeds that are in the bag next to you?

12/7/20

Poll Results: You chose … 50% Chose to take the bird out of the cage and 50% said to feed it some seeds.

You decided to take the bird out of the cage and give it some seeds. You slowly opened up the cage to grab the bird and it stared at you with astonishment.

Normally, you just used a small spoon to feed it through the cage, so opening up the door was something that it had never experienced before.

As you reached in your hand to give it the seeds, the bird jumped towards the back of the cage, then back at your hand, and took a huge peck at your finger. Blood started to drip and you snatched your hand back through the door, causing it to scrape on the metal siding.

More blood poured from your hand from both areas and as you looked down at your hand, the bird zipped out of the cage and jumped towards the window, smacking right into the glass. It floundered around for a few seconds near the ledge trying to figure out what had just happened.

It tried three more times to jump through the window then when it realized it couldn’t get through, it grasped the ledge and tilted its head towards you with complete hatred. It leaned a little off the edge looking as if it were going to jump towards you and glared in your eyes.

Readers Poll: Choose carefully to decide your path on what to do with the bird. Do you…

A: Flare your arms about?

B: Ignore it and wash your hand?

C: Try to grab the bird?

12/14/20

Poll Results: You chose … 66.7% chose to flare your arms about, and 33.3% chose to ignore it and wash your hand, while no one chose to try to grab the bird!

The bird continued to stare at you with evil intent, so you got a wild hair up your sleeve and started wailing your arms about showing it you were mad.

The bird jumped backward with fright and hit the window and then fell off the ledge to the floor. HA! Now, this little boggard was afraid. How dare it take a bite out of you after all this time you were nice to it.

You didn’t have to feed or water it, much-less sing to it when the skies were gray. It should be grateful for you...right? Nope, this little turd wants to hurt you the moment you try to give it some freedom.

However, what you didn’t know, was that the bird understood your every word. The bird was trying to let you know that it was hurt, and now all of a sudden you decided to pay attention.

It had been stuck in a cage for a long time but wanted to feel free again, like all the birds outside. While you were away, the bird tried numerous times to get out of the cage and hurt its wings in the process.

The moment you opened the door it jumped out, and its wings were damaged again. But being human, and not speaking bird you didn’t know that. All you knew was that this little bird was cute, and it never looked hurt.

The bird was on the floor pecking at the carpet, it hopped a few times to investigate its surroundings and then looked back at the window. You continued to flare your arms about making your presence known, but the bird ignored you and hopped towards the front door...

Readers Poll: Choose carefully to decide your path on what to do. Do you…

A: Run and open the door?

B: Stomp your feet and yell?

C: Try to grab the bird?

12/21/20

Poll Results: You chose …100% chose to run and open the door!

The bird was almost at the door, so you decided to run and open it as fast as you could. Just as you opened the door, a gust of wind flew into the house.

It startled the bird, and it ran under the couch. You started to close the door, but your cat squeaked by fast, making its way inside. It had been out all night prowling around for mice, and the wind was too chilly for its paws.

The cat looked at you with thanks and trotted off to the water bowl. The bird saw the cat from beneath the fibers of the couch and did not make a move. If the cat saw it...well let's just say, predator instincts will be initiated.

You finally got the door closed and brushed back your hair. Geeze, that was not expected, but now you needed to find the bird before the cat did.

Now and then, you would wake up in the middle of the night hearing the cat purring around the bird, but you never thought twice about the cat harming the bird, as it was super fat and declawed. The bird, on the other hand, knew different.

However, now that the bird was out of the cage, you didn’t know what to expect. You bent down to try to swoon the bird out from the couch, and it ran to the other side. This was getting exhausting, and you wished you had never opened the cage.

The bird looked as if it was starting to enjoy itself as you chased it back and forth. It almost looked as if it was smiling like a little kid that got to run and play.

As you stood up to catch your breath, the cat pounced from behind the door onto the couch cushion and looked at you with curious eyes. So far, it had not seen what you were after, but with any movement from the bird, the cat's attention would break...

Readers Poll: Choose carefully to decide your path on what to do. Do you…

A: Pet The Cat?

B: Scare The Cat?

C: Reach For The Bird?

12/28/20

Poll Results: You chose … 50% said Pet The Cat. And 50 % said Scare The Cat…

You reached down and petted the cat, thinking that maybe the bird would chill for a second. But that was not the case.

The bird zoomed out of the bottom of the couch and across your feet and into the kitchen. You felt its claws dig deep into your toes, drawing more blood as it ran. You tried to wave your arms and scare the cat in the other direction, but it was too late.

The cat saw the bird and instantly pounced. The little bird was quick, but the cat was faster. It grabbed the bird and held it in its jaws. It looked into your eyes as if it just won the Olympic cup of cat catching.

The bird squeaked and tried to shift itself out of the cat’s mouth, but the cat’s grip was just tight enough to restrain it. The cat won and doomed the bird.

Then suddenly, the bird squawked so loud that it made you cover your ears. It startled the cat, dropped the bird and ran out of the door. It stopped and peeked from around the side to see what the bird was going to do.

The bird jumped up and shook off its feathers; and glared at the bird. Then, the bird got a wild hair up its sleeve and chased the cat! You had never seen a bird chase a cat before, so it bewildered you.

Round and round the dining table, the bird chased the cat. It almost looked as if they were having fun. You had no idea what to do but watch in awe. Finally, the cat jumped onto one chair, and the bird was right underneath it.

It stared at the cat, intending to kill. The cat’s tail fluffed up, and the bird’s head tilted from side to side. You could tell the bird was planning its next move. If you had known that the bird was so intelligent...you could have made it a star.

However, you knew that somehow the bird had to get back in the cage to keep it safe. You walked towards the bird, and then the bird jumped towards you and pounced off your stomach and onto the cat’s head.

The bird pecked at the cat’s ears, and the cat freaked. It jumped off the chair and onto the table, shaking its head wildly trying to get the bird to stop. The bird held on tightly, and within a mere second, the bird jumped off the cat’s head and was in the air flying.

It soared towards the window, then splattered into the glass hard. The bird fell and laid their lifelessly. The cat ran into the living room, and you went to grab the bird. It was stiff when you picked it up, and you knew it had its last flight.

You took it outside and laid it down in the grass, and went to get your shovel. When you got back, the bird disappeared. You felt horrible, so you looked around to see if there were any tracks on what had taken it away, but there were no signs of any other animal.

Just then, you heard a loud squeak above you, and as you looked up, the bird was circling you high in the air. It made a few more circles around you, then took off. It was free.
