Spiritual Companion Turtle

Do not trust the so-called consecrated jade circulating nowadays. This matter is something I have a bit of knowledge about because my grandfather once possessed a consecrated bone. Obtaining that required a tremendous stroke of luck. As for that bone, it indeed held extraordinary power, but it could only be used once and that was it. It's fundamentally implausible! Consecrated jade first requires a person of elevated spiritual cultivation, profound merit, skilled in the rituals of consecration and the mantras of the heart. Second, it necessitates a suitable instrument; it cannot be accomplished by acquiring a cheap piece of jade from a market stall for five or six dollars. It must be of excellent quality, like blood jade (transparent or white in essence but able to absorb sweat and, over time, manifest bloodlines within the jade—a rarity), or the skull's vertex bone (from someone born and perished during the same Chinese zodiac hour, an honorable death is a must, extracting the top bone, other bones won't suffice). Thirdly, the practitioner must be willing to sacrifice their own spiritual cultivation and bravely endure risks to bestow blessings upon you. Do not think that genuine consecration is easily obtained. Once the ritual commences, should the Yin dissipate, even death will seem trivial. How many individuals in contemporary society do you believe meet these aforementioned conditions? Nowadays, forget about those possessing meritorious virtues or those who have unlocked supernatural abilities. Even finding a devout monastic adhering strictly to ascetic practices is a challenging task. And you speak of consecration?

I anticipate facing a barrage of criticism for saying this as I may disrupt their means, but I must persist! It's only those who are deeply distressed and intractable who intentionally seek this! It's highly unethical and karmically burdensome to deceive others with mere worthless trinkets at such times!

Instead of venturing out to seek those of dubious origin for consecration and being deceived, it's better to nurture a living, tangible spiritual companion at home!

Do not misconstrue my notion of a spiritual companion as elusive or mythical; they are in fact quite ordinary flora and fauna! It all hinges on your recognition and nurturing abilities!

Now, let's start with the first kind of spiritual companion: the turtle.Turtles, descendants of Xuanwu, are primarily kept to accumulate blessings and store energy. Spiritual turtles are limited to grass turtles; others like Brazilian turtles, alligators, yellow-edged turtles, and the like are not included.

There are two methods: one involves selecting a turtle over a hundred years old. Such turtles are inherently blessed and by raising them, one can harness their spiritual essence to stabilize the household's fortune, yielding remarkable effects, albeit unable to ward off disasters or ominous influences.

The second method involves nurturing a newly hatched small turtle. Choose one that resonates with you (hold it in your hands, gaze intently at it; if it turns its head to look at you for an extended period without fear or hastening away, then there's an auspicious connection between you and this turtle). Carefully raise it, nurturing it morning and night by blowing air towards its head and conversing with it (the breath of humans reaching the essence of spirits) to prompt its intellectual development. If such a turtle, raised for over two years, demonstrates recognition of people, stays close to them, and doesn’t shy away, it will attain profound spiritual wisdom and become a treasured asset in the household (if it doesn’t, it's better to set it free). While its financial capabilities may not match those of a centenarian turtle, it possesses the ability to significantly stabilize the household and bring prosperity in domestic matters!! With a spiritual turtle at home, the household remains peaceful and prosperous, ensuring numerous offspring and descendants!

Household disturbances, lack of prosperity among descendants, and unease in comings and goings warrant serious consideration. However, the flaw lies in their inability to repel malevolent forces or dispel evil. (Turtles are not combative creatures; they serve merely as auxiliary pets. Later, I'll introduce a combat companion, the rooster.)

Let me put it this way: if your turtle constantly yearns to wander outside, avoids staying with you, and flees upon seeing you, then there's no connection; it's best to release it. Such a circumstance doesn't lead to the turtle becoming spiritually attuned. A genuine spiritual turtle enjoys closeness with people; for instance, the one in my home endeavors to return even if placed outside, fearing we might leave it there. Under these circumstances, there's simply no confinement as hinted by the cold mentions of being captive, as mentioned by fellow enthusiasts.

In truth, a spiritual turtle is quite a homebound creature; it recognizes the boundaries of home and prefers staying indoors. Even if allowed outside, it will find ways to return. However, in today's highly technological society, with public transport like buses and subways, it's beyond its comprehension. Sometimes, it might fail to find its way back home and get crushed by vehicles. Believe me, having a spiritually inclined turtle reside at home is not constriction. Conversely, driving the spiritual turtle out, preventing it from ever returning home, that is a cruel act.
