My favorite Tik Tok videos are the K9 videos. The police love working with their K9 partners and love to show them off on Tik Tok. There are so many of these videos to the point that it is very difficult to choose just one. Some of these videos show how close they are with there K9s by goofing off with them. There are also videos were the officer is going through the training process that there K9s must go through to do their jobs.

The one ticktock video that is my most favorite is a video of a police officer just hanging out at home with his dogs playing games with his dogs which also train them into having certain skills. In the video he states that he has hidden his dog’s food. That is two German Shepherds, he has hidden food from two German Shepherds. German Shepherds are extremely smart. He was timing them to see how long it would take for them to sniff it out. It was no time at all, they found there food very quickly. Even though he was just showing them off and what they can do on ticktock this playful game is also an exercise to keep them trained for there job.

German shepherds are an extraordinary breed. They are extremely intelligent to the point that they can become too smart for their own good and have even earned the nickname “das Wunderhund” (the wonder dog). Not only do they make great house dogs, but they are also trained to work in the military, police force, and make great service dogs. Therefore, there are so many German shepherds in the K9 unit.

Just like any shepherd breed, the German Shepherd was bread to be a working dog. So, if you are going adopt a German shepherd then you must give them a purpose or job such as guarding the house. If you do not, then they can become aggressive and seek out that purpose themselves.

German shepherds have been given such a bad reputation because a lot of people who decide to get a dog do not do there research, fall in love with the breed, and then take it home thinking it is a great house pet, and then not provide it with the right type of training that it needs, instead expecting it to just lay around, run and play when they want it to. Instead their dog will misbehave destructively and eventually hurt someone due to there human’s ignorance. In other words, if you do not give a German shepherd a job or a purpose then they will become frustrated and lash out. It is like when you, a family member or friend have nothing to do. No job, no hobbies, just nothing. You or they will eventually get aggravated and lash out.

The one thing I love about the video that I found is that it shows the importance of the training a police dog goes through, and still how they need to keep up that training, even at home. In the video, an officer hides his dog’s food outside the fenced-in back yard, leaving the gate just barely cracked open. The officer lets his German Shepherds, both the house dog, and k9 unit dog, out into the yard to go hunt down the food and see which one finds it first. Eventually his house dog figures out that it is outside, while the police trained one finds the food once let out of the yard.

The purpose of this is to keep the dogs training ongoing, as well as enjoyable, for both German Shepherds. This exercise helps to keep them both well-trained and have fun at home without it feeling like a training course. It was just fun and great to see police dogs at home with there partner and family for once instead of viciously barking, chasing, and possibly biting whoever the police are dealing with. One thing that may make this video get passed over is the possibility that some may just perceive it as a person playing with his dogs, but it’s an enrichment exercise as well for them, to train, and have fun because they are, first and foremost dogs, and while they need to be well trained, we sometimes overlook that they are playful and fun to be around as well, even if they have a day-job that involves what it perceives to be them protecting their human.
