You are attached to your pet and you would take it with you everywhere, but for this, you have to keep in mind certain rules.

Find out from the following lines what rules you need to follow, both legislative and common sense, to make traveling with your non-speaking friend comfortable for you, for the rest of the travelers, but last but not least, for the pet.

What you need to know about transporting pets

We like to be around our pets. They raise our serotonin levels and make us happier around them.

But when we go on the road with them, it is advisable to create certain conditions for them, so that they do not feel awkward and tense. Thus, we need to arrange a suitable environment for them, so as not to increase their anxiety.

When you are preparing for the trip, in addition to your luggage, you will also need to pack your luggage with your pet's belongings. It must contain documents such as his health card and passport, if applicable. Also, if you have a dog, make sure it is microchipped and all vaccines up to date.

And if you have a medium or large dog, find out about buying a muzzle if your quadruped exceeds 10 kilograms, to comply with the legislation. Also, in public spaces, the dog will always be kept on a leash or harness, without exception.

It is also advisable to have fresh water and a container from which your pet can drink.

Car transport

Even if it is much more convenient to transport your non-speaking friend by personal car than by public transport, this does not mean that you do not have to follow certain rules.

For both his and your safety, do not let him sit freely in the back seat, or worse, in the front seat, but put him in a carrying cage, adapted to his size. Thus, in the event of an accident or sudden braking, the chances of it being hit are much lower.

Moreover, if an airbag opens in front of him, this can be fatal. Also, a hit dog can be scared which will make him behave aggressively, defensively.

Train transportation

In general, the transport of live birds, reptiles, or insects is not done in passenger cars. Instead, dogs, caged birds, or cats can stay in the same compartment as you. But you should know that if you have a dog, it should wear a muzzle.

There is no need to purchase a ticket for small cats or dogs that can be held in their arms. They can only stay with you if you don't mind the rest of the passengers. If you have a medium or large dog, a ticket will be bought for him, which costs half the usual price of a trip.

It is also important to note that the transport of dangerous, fighting, or attacking dogs such as pit bulls is prohibited. Large dogs can only be transported by the muzzle. They must be kept on a leash, and the person who is with them must be over 18 years old. Another basic thing is animal health care.

During the trip the owner is obliged to maintain the hygiene of the place, otherwise, he will be sanctioned. Therefore, do not forget the bags and wipes to clean the area in case your pet will defecate.

Also, upon receipt of a complaint from the passengers, the train staff will be obliged to direct the owner and the dog to another compartment, in the corridor, or, in extreme cases, not to allow the trip.

Air transport

A passport and a certificate issued by the veterinarian are required for the trip with the pet. If your pet weighs up to five kilograms, it can be transported in the cabin, otherwise, it must stay in the hold, in a specially arranged place.

However, traveling by plane can be traumatic for your quadruped and you should expect it not to react very well to this experience.

The noise, the cold, or the darkness can scare him, so you have to think several times beforehand if he must fly an aircraft.

Also, before you book a ticket and head to the airport with your pet, first check if they will be allowed access to the plane because not all airlines are equally permissive.

Bus transportation

As in the case of the airplane, the owner must ensure that the company with which he will fly allows the animals to travel. Also, before leaving, he must read the company's regulations to know what is allowed and what is not.

Some transport companies have requirements that keep the animal in a special cage, possession of a passport and the animal's health care, consultation with the veterinarian 72 hours before boarding, and up-to-date vaccinations, and your pet to be microchipped. In addition, some companies will ban pregnant females from boarding the bus.

Also, the pet must be clean and healthy.

If you are lucky enough to have the bus company allow you access by quadruped, you must continue to be careful that it does not disturb the rest of the passengers, because any complaint can cause you problems, which in the worst case will lead to a travel ban.

You should also have bags and wipes with you to clean the area if it needs to be cleaned. In addition to all these conditions, make sure that your non-speaking friend has a bowl in which to put water or food.

In order not to feel too much the stress caused by the trip and the fact that he is in an unfamiliar place, you can also take his favorite toy, to keep him busy.

Therefore, traveling with your pet will take a lot of effort from both you and him, as he will have to adapt to a new environment.

Be sure to read the regulations of the companies you are traveling with, to make sure that you meet the established conditions. Have you ever traveled with your non-speaking friend before?
