When the human is gone...

At long last! The human is gone!

Don't get him wrong- Mando loves his human! But he also loves harassing the bitch, chewing on pillows and Gracie across the street...

With the latch finally locked (the sweetest of sounds) and his human now gone, it's time to get the fun started.

Now where's... that... bitch...

This is how it always goes- just like clockwork... The door latch serves just like the bell at a heavyweight match. Once switched- game on. And they both know it.

*Ding, ding*

Gloves up.

Round 1.

I know you're here. Come out and play...

He's always the antagonizer. Even when his human is around! The two can never get along. All he wants is a friend to play with, but she just wants to be left alone. After all, she was here first. To her, he's nothing more than a clumsy nuisance...

Oh no! It's a sneak attack!

An aggressive MEOWW is heard from behind as she lunges around him and on to the couch wherein she plants herself perfectly: in front of his nose.

Poor guy never saw it coming. But then again, he rarely does.

Paws up- the first punch is thrown!

Lucky for Mando that her front paws are clawless, but I imagine it still can't feel too good.

He barks in retaliation, and before he can throw a punch, she zooms off the couch, through the kitchen and through her hole in the baby gate to downstairs that's just big enough for her and only her to fit through. Classic Brella move.

Coward!

He about heads for the sofa to get some good, peaceful chewing in when he notices... the gate is cracked open! When she ran through the gate she must've knocked it loose! Payback's a *....

Ohh you're in for it now!

He's gonna take a page out of her book and sneak up on her since she probably doesn't know the gate is open...

'Let's see how YOU like it!'

He does his best to creep down the stairs. It's hard for a big lummox like him, but he's trying his best! He gets to the end of the stairs and is met with an alluring aroma stemming from the big box of sand in the corner.

Oh how Mando loves that sand...

He's always digging his nose in there and pulling out rock hard treats that are as black as he is.

He often wonders why his human doesn't present him with these treats instead of those lighter colored treats that say "milk something" on them.. He likes the treats down here wayy better.

But every time his human catches him trying to eat one, he yells and spanks him...! Mando doesn't understand it.

Hmm... I'll come back for treats later. First, I gotta get my payback!

Brella is sitting in the recliner- Mando can certainly get her from this angle... He creeps around the side and gets in front of her. Her eyes are closed... he's going in...

Just as he's about to get her, though, he hears the garage door opening.

Oh no!

The noise also wakes Brella, so his plan is already foiled. Seeing Mando in front of her face, however, she can't refuse the opportunity.

She spikes him in the nose twice before darting off the chair, totally catching him off guard.

*Ding, ding*

She wins this round.

Ouch! She's too dang fast!

Mando is very disappointed. This day did not go at all like he had planned. But he can't marinate on that right now.

In twenty seconds, his human will be walking through the basement door and Mando knows that if he's found down here, his ass will be grass. His human is very particular about the carpet for some reason...

He rounds the corner in preparation to hightail it up the stairs, but the box of sand is calling out his name!

Mando takes a second to make up his mind on what he should do- stay or go- but he decides to bypass the box this time.

He has his eye on that luscious- looks like fresh- treat poking out of the box. He'll know where it is the next time he has the pleasure of being downstairs and he takes comfort in that.

He charges up the steps 3 at a time! He makes it through the gate before the basement door is even opened.

Whew! I'm in the clear.

He lays down on the cold kitchen linoleum in front of the porch doors-attempting to look nonchalant; like he's been taking a nap the whole time. He thinks he just might get away with it, too.

His human is now upstairs and at the baby gate. He's calling Mando's name, at which Mando gets up and goes to his human. He figures his human just wants some love, but before Mando looks at his human, he looks at the gate...

It's open...

Uh-Oh...

He looks at his human and at the accusatory look that's spread across his face.

Mando thinks he's done for, but he quickly thinks on his feet and realizes: he didn't make any mess... Brella is still alive... He is not in the wrong here...

So he inches closer to his human and gives him a kiss on the hand, reassuring him that he was missed.

His human takes one last look at the gate, one last look at Mando, closes the gate and smiling, bends down to give Mando some love.

Whew, that was a close one!

He looks around for Brella to let her know that she may have one this round, but the match isn't over yet.

I'll get ya next time!
