This is the third year in a row we have stopped at Pacific Shores RV Resort in Newport, Oregon. I will admit and caution other RVer’s that it is the most expensive place we have stayed but loved the experience so continue to include it in our itenerary.

Wondering why we return to Pacific Shores?

The club house hosts a indoor pool, spa, and sauna. Beyond the swimming area is a fitness center. To be honest that is not an area we are acquainted with but it looks nice. Never need it because walking the pups keeps me in shape. They like loooooong walks.

This place is dog heaven

Throughout the resort are walking paths that lead to isolated sitting areas. One offers a large chair swing attached between two trees that looks out over the ocean. The paths escort walkers through trees and beautiful foliage, eventually ending at a private beach which is only available to occupants of the RV resort. It is a bit of a walk to the sand but not difficult except for some steep steps near the end.

Dagney and Francisco loved the freedom to explore off leash when we were at the beach. They investigated the the rocks, seaweed, and even touched their toes in the water. Inquisitive describes Cisco's behavior better than brave. He is never far behind one of us or close on Dagney's heels. An adventurer he is not but he loves the experience.

Cisco tends to walk under my feet. We never have to worry about him running off, but I must be careful not to step on him or trip and fall myself. This pictures shows one of his favorite position during a walk with my husband and myself - between us.

The first time Cisco stood beside me watching the water, he couldn't run away quick enough when the waves approached. I imagine if I was his size, my instincts would tell me to run also. Eventually, he got closer to the intimindating flowing water but never close enough to take a swim. Probably good because I recently read salt water is detrimental Yorkies.

Dagney, on the other hand, explored high and low often making it difficult to find her because she blended in so well with the surroundings. She climbed to the highest point reachable by her tiny legs. When it seemed she might jump Randy and I both yelled thinking her landing might not be as soft and graceful as she expected.

Dagney, don't jump!

During low tide there were tidepools to examine with many starfish and sea urchins. The large rocks provide land to a variety of birds. Dagney explored the tidepools up close while Cisco kept his distance. Then Dagney chased the birds while Cisco watched. I believe he was cheering her on.

I took my shoes off so my toes could wiggle in the sand as we walked along the beach. The dogs ran around sniffing and licking anything that didn't move. Cisco became a shadow to his sister, going everywhere she ventured as long as it wasn't too high, too far, or too wet.

I wondered as I watched and still question, "Why does Cisco have to pee everytime Dagney does?" By the end of the day he couldn't have had any fluid in his system. It may seem a little silly but each time he lifted his leg, I giggled. He tries so hard to be a big boy but looks like he might tip over standing on three legs as he does his business. For him the only time higher is better would be when relieving himself.

On this trip we walked by a heart made of rocks and my husband explained how he rushed down here earlier to make it for me as we are celebrating our 41st wedding anniversary. I smiled and winked when I replied, "Really? I thought you would leveling the motorhome." Reminding myself that it is the thought that counts, we snapped a picture to remember that he thought to lay claim to someone elses artwork to share his love. We laughed.
