If you are a pet owner, you might be healthier than you realize as research indicates that owning a pet can save money in medical bills, Animals are therapeutic and studies also indicate that cats specifically have amazing healing powers, that help humans. One report from Australia indicates that $880 million per year is saved on medical bills by those who own cats and German research indicates that about 6.6 billion a year was saved.

Think about this for a moment. Right now there are men and women taking expensive prescription drugs to lower their blood pressure. Just imagine the savings if every one of them could get their numbers under control simply by loving and being loved by a pet? My BP medication was averaging 165/90 but now since my cat has been in my home, the average reading is 120/85.

Consider the many individuals, especially menopausal women who have insomnia and are unable to sleep through the night. They are spending money on prescriptions and over the counter meds as well as herbal remedies. Millions would be saved each year if they had a cat who soothed them to sleep. This would put a dent in the pockets of big pharma and tremendous savings to individuals.

Owning a cat has been proven to reduce heart attack risk by 40% and decrease chances for other heart-related illnesses which is really great news. One study found that people who don’t own cats have a greater risk for all forms of heart disease, A study was done regarding more than 4,000 Americans between the ages of 30-75 and the results were astounding. The data indicated that those who did not own a cat had a 40% higher of chance myocardial infarction AKA heart attack or other heart-related illnesses than those who were pet parents to a feline.

A purring kitty who is seated on your lap or rubbing itself against your legs can be very soothing. Waking up to your feline sleeping next to you or lying on your body is a very peaceful feeling that I this know first hand. Some might say it can’t be as simple as owning a cat and all of your stress or medical problems disappearing but there are testimonies from many people who say "tis true."

Studies reveal that people who own cats have lower levels of stress and also experience better wound healing and a decrease in swelling pain reduction than those who are not cat owners. Joint mobility and muscle repair has also been proven to be much better in cat parents. Those who own felines have also shown to have fewer problems with shortness of breath. Those who own cats tend to live much longer than individuals who are not feline owners.

Various studies report that among pets, cats are number one for healing and dogs run a close second. My eight year old granddaughter was the first person to te me that my kitty sleeping on me meant he was healing me. She got her information from TicTok and it was backed up by studies that I found when I searching the Internet. I advise the readers to do their own research and come to their own conclusions but in my opinion, the cost of owning my tabby is priceless when I consider all the money I am saving along with improved mental and physical health.

Owning a feline with not change your circumstances but can change you. I’ve found that my tabby cat can be a slight distraction from things that are on my mind. Allowing him to nestle against me is soothing, especially when I wake up. If immediately I go outside in the early morning sunshine I find a double benefit and I’m able to relax and think more clearly, please keep in mind that you should never stop taking prescription meds without first taking with your health care provider. This is true whether you are on drugs for physical or emotional issues. If you begin feeling better your physician can help you through the steps of decreasing or discontinuing your prescriptions.
