Bringing Ninja Home

The floof that brings joy šŸ™‚

Cats are truly the best creatures in this world, my favourite friend. Adorable, soft and hilarious. Living without a cat for so long, I began to feel like something was missing in my life. Seeing kittens all over the internet, wishing I could have one but canā€™t because of limited housing that will accept pets. The housing that do allow pets charge a ridiculous fee on top of their already high priced rent. Iā€™ve begged my fiancĆ© multiple times over the years asking for a kitten, of course the answer was always a sad no.

Two years ago my mother passed away suddenly of cancer in two places, her right lung and her liver. She told me a couple months or so prior when she had to stay in the hospital, that she was diagnosed with cancer. The mix of emotions I felt, sadness and anger.

A month after my mother passed away, I come home from work and out from around the wall comes my fiancĆ© holding the tiniest ball of black floof with big yellow eyes and the tiniest mews! I was so happy and when I realized this kitten was now part of our family I couldnā€™t believe it. My fiancĆ© and I picked his name based off of his personality, heā€™s quite the sneaky Ninja. šŸ˜

Ninja is argumentatively the best cat ever. He is the type of cat that will watch you play and be entertained. New toys are exciting for maybe half an hour then heā€™s bored. One thing we have found that he goes nuts over are these tiny balls of floof, made of tinsel and soft plushy fabric stuff. The wand toys with stretchy string are a definite no because all he does is chew the string. Any form of crinkly plastic, is a toy to him. Outside, Ninja goes bonkers playing with leaves.

Ninja is quite the scaredy-cat, very curious but also wary of his surroundings. Strangers canā€™t get close to him, even our family members. He is absolutely terrified of the bathtub due to a failed bathing attempt as a kitten. Since the traumatic event he slinks into the bathroom randomly to explore and sniff around every so often, but will not go near the bathtub. Any sudden movements and heā€™s a cat out of hell.

Ninja is a very picky eater, just like my fiancĆ©. Which makes it difficult to try new things, at least he doesnā€™t try to eat our food. One exception though, he has to sniff every single thing in our hands. Thatā€™s okay, heā€™s adorable. Ninjas favourite hard food choice is Friskieā€™s chefs blend, anything else he wonā€™t touch. Fancy feast grilled tuna canned food is bowl lickinā€™ good. Anything that involves tuna hasnā€™t failed yet so thatā€™s been great. When it comes to treats Ninja is especially picky. There are these fishy jerky sticks that he went crazy for, eventually he didnā€™t care for them. So every now and then we will give him the tuna juice as a special treat, mind you we have tuna like twice a year. One other thing we can give him as a treat are those tuna treat tubes, though it has to be in a bowl or he wonā€™t eat it. šŸ˜

I have tried walking Ninja and heā€™s absolutely terrified of strangers especially children. He does love being outside if there are no loud noises, to watch the birds, squirrels and bugs. Chase and play with the leaves and fluffs. He truly does bring the best out of our little family, to be the only people that can hold him. Itā€™s a certain kind of special something that I am glad to call our own. ā¤ļø
