A deer hit my husband

No, hubby doesn't wear a helmet. Well, he will when it is cold. I asked him if he had one on. I was surprised when his look was like of course he had one on.

He looked at me like, what a question. I said, you don't wear a helmet! He said, "I wear one at night and when it is cold and it was about 50 degrees." Well maybe just in the last couple of years. Maybe since he turned 75.

It was almost warm enough for me to ride. 50 is my bottom number, while his is 40. But the wind yesterday made it feel colder than it was. We have had much warmer weather lately, just not yesterday. I was cold all day.

There were still many people in shorts and t-shirts though. Not me, I was dressed in long pants, and a lite weight sweatshirt all day and I was still cold.

He said a deer came out of nowhere. It hit his motor guard (row bar) and then his leg. He had instant pain in his ankle and his crotch. He said, "My bike was riding good, so I kept going.

One of my first questions after seeing he was still walking; well limping was what happened to the deer. He answered that the deer was knocked into the ditch. He said it hit pretty hard, and he thought that if his bike was smaller, it may not have turned out as well for him or his bike.

He couldn't see any damage last night. He will be taking a better look and didn't want me to look for him. He said that he couldn't see any damage last night. He didn't get home any later than usual, so hitting the deer didn't slow him down.

He said that coming home after he hit the deer, he wasn't sure he would be able to put his foot down when stopping as his foot hurt. He could. He noted that he had seen 4 deer altogether riding home.

He got home. I was ever so grateful and relieved. And then the worry came. My daughter was just at an amateur bull riding event with her son that wanted to try it. One of the guys was thrown and hurt his femur. She described how he was going into shock.

And then what she did as a nurse. I knew that the adrenaline was keeping him from the full experience and who knows what the damage is. This morning he still doesn't agree to go to the emergency room.

When he got a chance to take a look last night his ankle was swollen. I called my daughter the nurse as he did not want to go to the ER. He said he will go in tomorrow if it is necessary.

She asked if there was swelling and when I said yes, she said to ice and elevate, and he should get checked out in the morning.

He thinks this is the fourth deer he has hit now. A deer hit me once and technically the deer hit him tonight too. He would always tease me about the deer that hit me, until tonight. Now, I believe he knows what I mean.

I was literally stopped at a stop sign when the deer ran into me. Thankfully, I was in my car, and not on my bike. I heard it, I didn't see it. And then I was pulling over to look at the damage. There was damage but it wasn't bad.

It's morning now and it is about the same for him. Still a sore crotch and ankle. He was icing his ankle. He wants to wait to go in until I get back from going the river. That is if he decides to go in. Or if I can talk him into going. Men can be so stubborn.
