Waking up at 5:30 A. M., Rose left the comfort of her bed to go outside and watch the sun rise. Her boyfriend Lee was just getting up himself. She sat in the chair that faced out near the lake and the railroad track. The sun rose high above the lake brightening the morning with is bright yellow ambiance. She heard the distant whistle of the train and saw it pass by with three locomotives from CSX. He went to the stove and began preparing breakfast. He is a skilled sous chef. He prepared Eggs Benedict with the Hollandaise sauce, bacon and coffee. He knew that Rose liked her breakfast to be simple and not too complicated.

Rose is a skilled painter, whose works were known all over their small hamlet. She spends hours working on her paintings. This morning, she was wondering what Lee was up to. Normally, he slept late, but this morning he was up. Rose is an early riser. The smell of coffee began to pierce the morning air as she sat in the chair overlooking the lake and the railroad. Soon the smell of Eggs Benedict and bacon was there too. He appeared at the table with the breakfast for the both of them.

He and Rose had been together for six years. She always hoped one day Lee would pop the question. He walked over to the table where she was sitting and brought the bacon and Eggs Benedict. Lee poured the Hollandaise sauce all over the eggs. He poured her and himself a cup of coffee. They ate breakfast and he looked deep into her eyes as she sat there eating. He even held her hand. He hoped to marry her someday. After all, they had been together for six years and she hoped he would make her his wife. Lately, it seems like all Rose and Lee do is sit by the lake each morning for breakfast, without saying a word. But she has lately begun to realize that the silence has been wonderful. She would rather be subjected to the noise of the train going through or the lake waves crashing against the beach, over the noise of her and Lee talking.

They even began walking by the lakefront, just near their house. They walked down the side of the railroad tracks to view the trains that pass by their home. He built her a chair on their property that was closest to the tracks so that she could see the trains pass by. This morning however, soon a thunderstorm brewed over the lake as they finished up their breakfast. Lee and Rose tried to get to their as soon as the storm began. Within minutes the rain grew heavy. They both were soaked. Lee went to the fireplace and he put a few logs in and he lit the fireplace to make sure that he and Rose were warm. He always promised to love and protect her no matter what.

They sat by the fireplace with a warm cup of tea hoping the heat of the fireplace would warm them up. They looked out the window watching as the rain pounded the area very hard. The storm lasted for several hours. Finally after it subsided, Lee decided to go outside. He had planned a huge surprise for Rose. He placed red rose petals on the small sidewalk to the lakefront. Lee placed lit candles along the sidewalk. Lee was on the grill cooking their lunch which consisted of a T-Bone steak and potatoes. He placed both their plates down on the table. He took Rose by the hand and led her down to the lakefront. She was surprised at the rose petals and the lit candles that Lee had put along the sidewalk. He had grabbed a giant bouquet of pink roses. He also returned with two glasses and a bottle of champagne. Lee retrieved the small jewelry box that he had in the bag. He got down on one knee, before he could even get the words out, Rose happily accepted and Lee took the ring and put it on her finger. She smiled as he hugged her and swung her around. He kissed her and told her that he was finally happy to make her his wife.
