1. When you buy from a small business, you're helping someone else pay for their gifts and necessities.

Due to COVID-19, an abundance of small businesses had to close. This article that has been linked has statistics to show how drastically they had to change.

Because of this, there are many people who lost their livelihood or are struggling. This means that they struggle to buy groceries, pay for rent, and buy presents for their families. When you purchase an item from their small business, whether in person or even online, you help them pay for these items. When smaller businesses have higher prices, it's because they're working extra hard to make it perfect and have to pay for the supplies out of pocket. With the profit that they do get to keep, they can pay for necessities and gifts for their families.

In other words, the money you give for gifts will be used for another person's gifts, groceries, or rent.

2. By buying from a small business, you help an entrepreneur grow their business.

When you make a purchase from a small business, not only are you helping them by giving them money, but you are also helping them grow in other ways, especially if that involves writing reviews or telling others about the shop. Also, you may be more inclined to buy more from them.

Online shops like the ones on Etsy grow from sales, as the number of sales is displayed on the shop. By favoriting and buying items, Etsy helps that item get more views in the search bar. BY writing reviews online or through yelp for businesses that are in person, a customer may be more likely to buy from that small business. By helping in these ways, a small business owner could not only have more money, but to also have their dreams come true of having a successful business.

3. Small business are always unique and offer cool items that you wouldn't be able to find somewhere else.

If you are having trouble finding gifts and have a general idea of what who you are buying for likes, there is no doubt you will be able to find cool and unique items through a small business. Small business items don't typically get mass produced, so the items you may find searching through a small business's shop will be unique, rare, and something that the person you are buying for has never seen before. A surprisingly great gift can help your gift giving reputation when you are able to find the coolest and rarest items.

4. Customer service is more available and can be a more personalized experience.

Shopping through a small business guarantees customer service more inclined to help your needs. A small business will appreciate any sale that they get, so they are typically more than willing to help you with what you need. Not only that, but the customer service you receive will likely be with the owner of the shop, allowing you to get all the help you need directly from the shop owner. This almost guarantees you will get exactly the help you need.

I've definitely already made some holiday shopping purchases through small businesses and am super excited to receive my items. Small businesses are appreciative of every dollar, and could really use your help this holiday season if you have the means for it.

I shall take this moment to plug my small Etsy sticker shop, DynamiteArtStickers. My first article was about it, which is linked here.
