What If I Could Give You A Map To Changing It All
Change is hard to accomplish as well as hard to accept, but what if there were a map from unhappy to happy, and an explanation on how to use it?
God help us, change is needed in the world. For many of us, we need to learn how to change in our own little world and adapt to the world that we're inheriting. Maybe we need to do better at something, are struggling with something, or just aren't where we wanted to be at this point in life. If that's you, I really hope that you're open to change.
Not everyone is open to change. Be it lifestyle, aging issues, loss of someone, job or employment issues, homes, friends, or ourselves, change is one of those things that people resist. Some resist it with nearly every fiber of their being. But change is something that can be achieved, and we can overpower our inner natures if need be, but do we know how to get it done?
As someone who's both resisted and embraced change, I can tell you from experience that sometimes, change is the most painful thing we go through in this thing we call life. And embracing it isn't always easy. Hell, most of the time, on some level, when we do change something, it's because we felt like we had no choice.
And maybe that's the worst part about change. It's anchored in necessity rather than want.
When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.
--Victor E Frankl
Do you have problems with change? If so, it's not that complicated to get past them. You can be a master of change and manage to make changes.
How to deal with change is as important as how to make changes in your life: make them consciously, and make them sustainable.
How to Deal With Change
Be Mindful
The future is going to throw you curveballs no matter what you do, or what you think you've done right. By being mindful of the future, you'll be more prepared for what may come.
Stay Focused
Choose to remain focused on the right things. In any situation involving change, there are positives and negatives. By focusing more on the positives than the negatives, you can handle the changes or need for change better than focusing on the negatives.
Have Support
A support network will help you manage the stressors of change situations. If you're going through imposed changes, or have hit a point where you need to make a change, family and friends are your best source of support. Talk to them, ask them to watch your back for a while as you try to move toward a new life.
Embrace Routines
The use of a daily routine will help you to develop discipline through a structured approach to making change. IF you can follow a routine, the changes will get easier in time.
Pay Attention To Self Needs
Self-care and self-check-ins will be more important when making major changes in your life.
These are tips for dealing with changes, both necessary and self-imposed changes in your life. Whether you're burned out at work, have to break up with a lover or spouse, someone close to you has passed, or you need to change a habit in your life, these can all be extremely stressful to deal with.
Once you have accepted that you need to make changes, how do you get started?
Knowing that things aren't working, or working out well, is different than knowing where to start when it comes time to make changes.
And that's where we are today, needing to answer the question of how to make a change, make it work, and sustain it for our own good.
