Well, both products have their own pros and cons and until we come across of this third option debate, let’s just delve into the necessary facts we must know about the wet wipes and toilet papers to make an informed decision when we engage in this battle.

Toilet Paper

Toilet paper is the ancient method of wiping out after emptying your bowels. Mostly, the toilet papers are manufactured from pulp of hard and soft wood trees that are mashed, spread out and dried to convert them into the paper. It goes through a chemical processing as well to remove color and any hard substances from the raw material. Toilet papers are natural but we are paying an environmental cost to facilitate our wiping solution.

More production of toilet paper would result in more cutting of trees and the more trees are shed, the greater will be the pollution.

Why Are People Buying Toilet Paper?

People are buying more of toilet papers because wet wipes doesn’t have to be necessarily naturally processed and may contain harsh chemicals that can cause skin irritation and allergies. So you really need to keep an eye on the ingredients of wet wipes specially when you are buying them for children. Among many different wet wipes brands it is difficult to determine which brands are having natural or safe ingredients to trust on their bodies. And if not much chemically dipped, most of the wet wipes are made from synthetic fiber that is cruelly harsh on your skin, therefore people are moving towards more natural products and safer ways to wiping.

Unlike wet wipes, toilet paper is made from natural fiber that quickly dissolves in the water and degrades itself without clogging your sewerage system or damaging your water treatment facilities. Wipes, on the other hand, even if labeled “flushable” are notorious to for causing plumbing issues just because these are made from non-woven material that doesn’t disintegrates easily and quickly as the toilet papers can and stick with the oils and fats in the sewer system to form large blockages known as “fatbergs”.

Toilet papers are the only cleaning agent that is always available in public facilities. So, whenever you are happened to visit a public bathroom, you can use a dry toilet paper for cleaning purposes. At least using a dry toilet paper is still a good option than not cleaning at all. But if you are a wipe user there are many facilities that prohibit the use of wet wipes such as on cruise ships and boats in general. You might get into trouble if you are not used to the use of toilet papers when you are happened to visit a restroom anywhere out if your own place.

Toilet papers are cheaper and more on the budget when compared with the wet wipes. Well, it directly depends upon the consumption but toilet paper comes in more sheets such as 264 sheets per roll and 48 toilet paper rolls in a carton in a price less than wet wipes. So this equates the consumption with the cost.

Why Wet Wipes?

There’ve been so many arguments in the favor of toilet papers but wet wipes are not totally useless and not recommended at all. Wet wipes has their own reasons for why people choose to use wet wipes for their cleaning purposes.

The primary and most compelling driver to the use of wet wipes is the hygiene and comfort that comes with it. The added moisture in the wipes enables a person to clean and sanitize the area and perform a to-do list for the day comfortably. Most of the people just can’t move around with a dirty feeling and smell that usually comes with using a dry toilet paper.

Wet wipes are strongly advocated for giving a clean and fresh feel after usage. Scented wipes leaves the air fresher and make the environment around you and your derriere smell differently than otherwise.

Wipes are usually multi-purpose. Many people that use the wet wipes as a byproduct are simply out of their addiction to the super cleansing these wipes provide. Many outdoor-men and military people use wet wipes to clean their entire body (a makeshift shower). Once again, this versatility of the wet wipe is a direct result from the fact that wipes actually endeavor to remove bacteria from an area and gives a refreshing feel to the user.

Now, after a deep dive into the reasons for the preferences of people, it is clearly obvious that still the TP users are more than wipes. It could only be due to the reason that people simply do not want to change their cleaning ritual which they are practicing since ages, no matter what hygiene or comfort level is being awarded by the other options. However, the choice between the two again depends largely on your need and availability of the product.
