What is Vocal Media?

Vocal Media is owned by a public limited company called Jerrick Media, Jerrick Media invested a lot of money into the online publishing business. Their main idea is to create a platform where creators can share content. Vocal Media business model is subscription-based but you can read articles on Vocal for free and you don’t need any subscription.

With the free membership Vocal offers a static $3 per 1000 views and with the paid membership, you get $6 per thousand views.

Vocal costs $9.99/month but this is only good for content creators on Vocal. You don’t need any subscription if you want to read articles on Vocal but if you are a content creator on Vocal and want to make more money then I will definitely recommend Vocal+ which costs $9.99/month. Some perks of being a Vocal+ member is that you make $6/1,000 views compared to a non-vocal+ member of $3.8/1,000 views.

How Vocal.media works

Vocal.media is free to use. Publishing, engagement with the audience, and tipping are done at no cost.

You have to be at least 13 years old to become a Vocal creator.

You reserve the right to your stories after publishing them on Vocal.

It takes 24-72 hours for moderators to review and publish your story.

You can republish your old content from other platforms on Vocal.

Stories with less than 600 words are not accepted for publication, same for poems with less than 100 words.

Content in foreign languages (other than English) is not accepted.

You earn money in 7 ways on Vocal.

Vocal is an excellent alternative to Medium. Therefore, it’s one more opportunity to monetize your writing skills online.

In this Vocal.media review, I’ll share how much Vocal pays per view, how else you can make money on Vocal.media (besides writing), and how much money you can make during your first month on Vocal.

Reads - based on how many people read your content

Tips- readers can leave tips. One standout feature is the ability for creators to receive direct tips from their audience. This direct form of support not only enhances creators' income but also fosters a deeper connection between them and their loyal readers.

Bonuses - Vocal give you cash bonuses when you publish a certain amount of content. Also, if you publish high quality content and interact with the Vocal community by liking other Vocal members' content, Vocal will send you a random bonus. I have received $15 in bonuses based on content published and a $10 sign up bonus. If you publish five articles, you receive a $5 bonus. When you hit ten articles its $10 and I was told you get $50 once you publish 50 articles. I have 50 pieces of content on there and I am yet to receive my $50 bonus.

Challenges- Every so often, paid members get the chance to enter a cash prize contest. Each contest has a theme. You can either publish an article or a poem to win a cash prize. You can also enter as many pieces into the contest as you like to increase your chances of winning. If you are into storytelling, fiction, and poem writing, keep an eye on the Vocal challenges page. Some challenges are open for everyone, while others are available exclusively for Vocal+ members.

Referrals- Vocal pays members a percentage of the monthly fee when they refer people to sign up for the paid membership.

Pledges - As a content creator, you can ask your fans to support your effort through pledges. It is a more stable and recurring income source on Vocal than bonuses, tips, and payment for views.

If your readers decide to support you, you’ll get a recurring $2.30 fee directly to your Stripe account monthly as long as they keep paying you.

Pledges are available for Vocal+ members only! It implies you’ll have to pay $10 monthly to benefit from this feature. You can learn more about how pledges work here.

Vocal.media Ambassador Program

Since May 2021, Vocal has introduced its Ambassador Program.

In short, it’s a referral program that allows you to earn $20 for every Vocal+ creator you refer.
