As more and more people try to make money from home, they are turning to buying and selling items in person and online. Craigslist is a great way to make money because the advertisements are free. However, it takes some work to make money this way.

Here are some tips to make money selling items on Craigslist.

Fill out the form fully.

Make sure that you start with a title that grabs your attention. Then, make sure you are clear with the location and the way to get in touch with you. Then, come up with a description. Be sure to include any answers to any questions that someone may have.

Don’t forget to take pictures.

People are more likely to buy items that have pictures. However, one picture is not generally enough. Try to get pictures from different angles, so you are not wasting people’s time, and they are not wasting yours by coming to get something that is not exactly what they are looking for.

Be patient.

Not everything is going to sell right away, so you need to have patience. Some items may sell right away, but others may take some time. Most things will sell, you may just have to put them on more than once. If you buy seasonal items, you may need to store them for a few months until there is a need for them.

Buy the right items.

It is important that you know what will sell before you go out and buy a lot of something that may sit on the shelf for months and months at a time. You should take the time to research what things sell, what quality that they are at, and what price they are selling for.

However, that being said, Craigslist can be fickle. There are days when some things sell, but the next day they may not. It is all in what people want on a given day.

Be ready to negotiate.

You need to price your items right, or you won’t be selling anything. That being said, you may want to give yourself a little wiggle room so that you can negotiate with potential buyers. People who buy on Craigslist are often anxious to talk price and make a deal.

Many people do well when they restore items before they sell them.

Just because something is old and broken does not mean that it does not have value. You can likely get these items for a very discounted price (or even free). If you put a little time and money into it, you are going to be able to make money when you go to sell it.

Another way to make money is by buying and selling seasonal items.

It is much cheaper to buy air conditioners during the winter and heaters during the summer. Shop at online auctions, Craigslist, and even buy brand-new items when they are heavily discounted. When the need arises, you can make a lot of profit on these items! Don’t just limit this to air conditioners and heating units. Think about sporting goods, hunting items, and even seasonal decorations.

Offer delivery.

Many people are busy, and they don’t have the time to go look at items that they want. Others don’t have a way to get the items home. With a small pickup, you could offer delivery for a small charge, making your profit even better!

Craigslist can be a great way to put a little (or a lot of) extra money in your pocket. You need to be thorough with your titles and description, as well as contact information. Pictures are also necessary if you want to sell something fast. You also want to do some research before you spend a lot of time and money looking for items to sell. However, with some patience, most items will sell. It just may take a little extra time (especially if you are selling seasonal items)!
