Popular with just about everyone, from those who are expert gardeners all the way to those who basically kill every plant they touch, succulents have been rising in popularity over the past several years. It's not too hard to understand why, they are easy to take care of and they come in so many different beautiful varieties. You can create a fun terrarium with them to create depth in your plants, and they give off a relaxing, zen vibe.

We can just imagine a whole collection of these gorgeous succulents, sitting near them on a cozy morning with your fresh coffee, and a humidifier creating a foggy, zen atmosphere. Sounds like heaven doesn't it?

Now like we said earlier, there are a TON of different varieties of succulents, including ones that are unique and bright colors and ones that have fun shapes like a rose! But one of the most unique and beautiful varieties we've ever seen is this clear succulent, or Hawthoria cooperi if we are going by its scientific name.

One of the most popular varieties of the Hawthoria cooperi is the truncata variety, which are the ones like the image above, with plump and almost raindrop like leaves! This gorgeous succulent really looks like a cluster of living raindrops, and when they are placed in the sun on a windowsill, the brilliance is even more significant.

This variety generally only grows to about 3 inches tall, which makes it the perfect green companion to your desk or a windowsill. It also makes it easy to place them in a terrarium with other succulents or features.

The great thing about succulents in general, including Hawthoria, is that they can tolerant and thrive in varying conditions. As long as you don't over-water them, they can grow in the sun or the shade. They will definitely like some sunlight, but it doesn't have to be an all-day sun soak. Placing them near a window that gets at least a couple hours of sun throughout the day should be perfect.

If you are looking to place these succulents in with other varieties, we would recommend surrounding the other varieties with the Hawthoria, giving your terrarium a very zen and complete feel.

Doesn't the Hawthoria Cooperi almost look like a plant from an alien world? We wouldn't be surprised to find this succulent on Pandora from Avatar or in Star Trek or Star Wars!

Where To Get The Hawthoria Cooperi

The Hawthoria Cooperi, like many beautiful and unique succulents, is quite rare and a little harder to find! You probably won't be able to find this variety at your local nursery or Home Depot, but there are multiple places online to get this beautiful plant!

If you are looking to support a small business, Etsy can be a great place to get this beautiful rain drop succulent and so many other succulent varieties!

Little Leaf Garden is selling the truncata variety for only $9.99 here!

And here is a PINK (yes, PINK) version from Little Leaf Garden!

If you are looking elsewhere other than Etsy for this succulent, here's an Amazon listing!

Best Way to Care For Hawthoria Cooperi (And Other Succulents)

Just like other succulents, the Hawthoria cooperi is relatively easy to care for. To make sure that you don't over water them, let the soil dry out in between watering, this will ensure that your succulent stays healthy and thrives! In the summer, it is a good rule of thumb to water about once a week, unless you notice that the soil has dried up much quicker than that. During the winter, you really only need to water these about once a month as they are more dormant during this time.

In terms of sunlight, place the succulent in a bright area that has some protection from the hottest sunlight during the day (we all know that burning sun that happens anywhere between 12-3PM, we like to avoid it just like this succulent does).

You will want to use a cactus soil mix, or a fast-draining potting mix to make sure that the water doesn't sit in your soil too long and harm your succulent.

Aren't these little plants just amazing? Once your succulent is established, it can even start to bloom with white flowers in the Spring or produce buds that you can share with your friends and they can have their own raindrop succulents!
