You finally save up enough money to buy that limited-edition pair of sneakers that you've had your eye on for months. You take them out of the box, put them on, and bask in their glory. But now what? How do you keep them looking fresh and new for as long as possible? Hey there sneakerheads! If you are anything like me who love bringing sneakers after sneakers and the excitement thereafter opening those fresh boxes, you might know the fear too. As exciting it is to buy sneakers, as hard it is to keep them fresh for long. But not with the right tips and tricks.

In this article, we’ll be sharing with you 5 tricks to keep your sneakers breathing for longer than is possible.

Keep Them Clean

Sounds too obvious to you? Nah! As obvious it sounds, as obvious it is not. Not many know that the best way to maintain the appearance of your sneakers is to keep them clean. They wear their sneakers without proper knowledge of how to keep them clean.

To clean your beloved sneakers, use a soft brush to remove dirt and debris from the surface and crevices of your sneakers. A damp cloth with mild soap and water can also do wonders. However, avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the fabric or color of your shoes. Also, read the washing instructions before you dump them down into the washing machine for a quick wash.

Store Them Properly

Once you are done buying or cleaning your sneakers, it is time to wear them. And once you are done wearing your sneakers, it is time to make sure to store them properly. Keep them in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight. Stuff them with tissue paper to help them maintain their shape and avoid creasing. I know that this might sound too far, but it works. This is the reason those showroom guys keep the shoes stuffed with paper. Also, avoid stacking them on top of each other, as this can cause unnecessary pressure and deformation of the sole.

Invest in Shoe Protectors

Shoe protectors are a great way to add an extra layer of safety to your shoes, thereby saving them from dirt, dust, and naughty neighbors. These protectors come in the form of sprays or wax and can help protect your sneakers from water, stains, and dirt. Just make sure to read the instructions carefully and test on a small area before applying it to the entire shoe.

Also, if your sneakers suffer from wear and tear, don’t throw them immediately. Buy some quality shoe repair glue and put it into use. These glues are strong and are simply available on sites like eBay.

Rotate Your Sneakers

If you're a sneakerhead, chances are you have more than one pair of sneakers. To avoid over-wearing and damaging one pair, keep on rotating your sneakers one after another. Give all of them a chance to touch your magical feet. Not only does this help maintain the condition of each pair, but it also allows you to showcase your sneaker collection and mix up your style.

If you have some good arts & crafts knowledge, you may even paint them in fancy colors. Use only fabric paint.

Know When to Retire Them

Now, this is something that most of us cry at. As much as we hate to admit it, all good things must come to an end. Knowing when to retire your sneakers is important to prevent further damage and maintain good foot health. Signs that it's time to retire your sneakers include worn-out soles, holes, and significant creasing. If you think your sneakers are suffering, try discarding them. You may even consider donating your sneakers before they are done.

Taking care of your sneakers requires some effort, but it's worth it to keep them looking fresh and new for as long as possible. From keeping them clean to investing in shoe protectors and knowing when to retire them, these tips and tricks will help you maintain your sneaker collection and showcase your style for years to come. Happy sneaker care!
