Cleaning windows does not need a proper interval. It can be done once in two to three weeks or can also be done twice a year. It is a painstakingly tedious task to single-handedly clean all the windows. Here are some tips to clean windows given by experts.

1. Before You Clean

Before you start cleaning there are some things to be considered.

Check if it is a sunny day. If you clean your windows on a sunny day, it will leave some streaks along with dust because it will dry up fast.

Vacuum the corners and window sills before you wash the whole window down. This can save you from dirtying your floor with the dirt that got washed down the window.

Take out the window dressing if you are carrying out your yearly cleaning. If not, it is okay to just wipe off everything without removing the dressing.

Use some newspapers to wipe the windows after rinsing it with water and soap. This will leave a sparkling window.

2. Use a Microfiber Cloth

If you clean your windows regularly, just dampen an eco-friendly microfiber cloth and use it to wipe the glass along with soap and water. Use another, this time a dry one, to clean after rinsing. These cloths can be washed just like other clothes using a washing machine. Microfiber cloths do not get stained and thus you get a good as new looking cloth for your next window cleaning. Squeeze the water out before wiping to use it for a long time.

3. Use an Easy Solution

If you are into using bottles cleansers that come in the market for cleaning your windows, you can go ahead with that. But most of the time, a small squirt of hand wash or dish wash with a little water to rinse the whole window works. If the stains are hard to remove, just add vinegar or ammonia for getting rid of the difficult to remove things. Vinegar can remove tough stains like these. They are anti-bacterial and non-toxic. This is the safest and most powerful stubborn stain remover. Do not make the water too soapy because it can leave some in the window and they attract more dust towards windows.

4. Use a Professional Cleaning Liquid If You Cannot Use Vinegar

There are commercial window cleaning liquids available if you don’t want to use vinegar. Choose one with no ammonia and methyl spirits and with a neutral pH so that it does not remove paint and varnish or damage any material.

5. Get a window vacuum

If you have a huge area as a window to be cleaned, you can buy a smart product called window vacuum. They should be more than the average size of vacuums and should clean in one stretch. If you do not want to get water involved in this cleaning, you can use this product.

6. Use a Lemon

You can take half of a lemon and remove the seeds. After removing the seeds, you can rub it on glass windows to get a super shiny finish and rinse it with a dry cloth. This can be done only for smaller windows as it is a tedious task.

7. Do Not Use a Squeegee

Experts tell us not you use a squeegee because of the mess that it can make. Using a microfiber cloth is preferred over a sponge to avoid dripping and making the floor a mess. You also need to wipe down a squeegee after every single stroke. Even if you are using a squeegee, use a dry cloth and newspaper to do the final wiping. Since the newspaper has the same ink throughout, it leaves a sparkly window.

8. Keep Track of the Routine

It would be helpful if you note down when you do cleaning so that you will know when to clean next. This way you can start the habit of cleaning in a routine. By following a routine, you get the squeaky clean window and you don’t have to worry about cleaning your window when some party is coming up in your house.
