SIDE EFFECTS OF MONEY

"Money is the matter of functions four;

A medium, a measure, a standard, a store."

The need of money was observed all against the Barter System because this system was extremely inconvenient. The most important function of money is that it acts as a medium of exchange. It is accepted freely in exchange for all other goods. It is a means of payment and thus a lubricant that facilitates exchange. It also acts as a store of value and a unit of account as it is clear from the above mentioned definition. 

But, does money bear the same definition in  today's world as well? Now, it looks that its definition has been distorted, its meaning has been changed. Now, it may be defined as :

" Money is the matter of corruptions core;

A craze, a crime, a symbol, a power show."

Yes, exactly. Now, money is being treated in a different stance. Our desires are insatiable. The more we get,  the more we want. The world has become totally materialistic. Man is running after money. Greater materialism, higher negative effects! Lower self-esteem, greater narcissism, less empathy, and more conflicted relationships - these are the side effects of money. Man has become so crazy about hoarding money that it has lost its primary value. Now, money must be gained by any means - right or wrong. It's the funda of modern man. Simultaneously,  it has increased the ratio of crime and chaos in the society. It has raised to high professionalism. Emotional crisis is the main outcome of this craze for money. Friendship and relationship have been the things of the past. For money,  man can go beyond limits. Even the blood-relations have dried up. Family- splits are quite apparent. Several types of differences have cropped up, all leading to a dry-hearted society. Family and social values have subsided, leading to physical, mental and spiritual health issues. 

Not only this, crime has touched the peak and it's all for money. Financial glitches, scams, deceits in business, deceits in love, kidnapping, murder, all these anti- human activities have the single backdrop of making money. It has, really, created a chaotic situation in the society. Cyber crime is at the peak now. Anybody may be cheated anytime and robbed of money, even from Bank accounts, if one is not alert. So many people have become a victim of such frauds. I also might have become a victim of such a fraud that day if I had not applied my presence of mind. In all, man is always ready to adopt any type of fraudulent ways to make money. Resultantly, man has lost trust in man himself. Man is the most sensible being on this earth. He is worthy of being trusted, but his insensible and illegal acts have led to trust crisis. 

We have quite often heard of kidnapping of children, or even adults, for ransom money. Extortion of money from businessmen and high post holders, is quite prevalent. It often leads to murder of the concerned person if money is not released. All these are the side effects of money. 

Apart from it, money has become the status symbol today. The more money you have, the more valued you are! Have-nots don't have any place in this world. They are treated like dirts. Money is adored high. Money-hoarders think themselves to be great. They present themselves as superpowers. They start dominating and exploiting others, the ordinary ones. Money makes them dry at heart. They would not help collecting money even at the cost moral values and lives of poor and innocent people. Talent has taken the back seat. Even though you are talented and qualified, you won't get as much weightage as the Haves in the society. It's the game of money. Money has corrupted their mind. It has become the show of power. 

More money,  more honour, however dishonest you are! Morality and moral lessons of great men are gone. Set-backs and sufferings have made life a hell.

Now, it's high time we must correct our ways. We must understand that craziness leads only to pains and sufferings. Money earned through wrong ways exhausts soon. We should not run after money. We need to create ourselves, build a good character and career. If we work hard and honestly, money will follow us. This hard earned money stays longer. We should follow right ways whatever the situation may be. No crime, no criminality! Criminality can make life only a hell. After death also, such a criminal soul is not freed. 

Money should not be the status symbol. We should believe in simple living and higher thinking. Talent should rank top. Quality and efficiency should be treated high. Family bonding and relationships should be strengthened. Social values should be revived.

Hence, don't make your money big, make your heart bigger, if you can. Check your greed, check degradation! Live and let live and help in the formation of the Garden of Eden once again on earth! Live together, live with love and make your house a paradise!
