Seeing the extra numbers dropping into your bank account gives satisfaction quite unlike anything else, and that’s why this’ll reveal the top five most profitable categories so you can start earning as soon as possible.

It’s also generally easy too, so reselling can be worked around day jobs, or perhaps any other commitments you may have, making it a super simple way to earn money, for supporting finances or starting a business.

From one reseller to another, I’ll share some of the more overlooked and underappreciated items that anyone can find undervalued with relative ease to sell for clean profits.

Books

Books are prolific things. There’s not many places they can’t be found; from supermarkets, yard sales, to that forgotten drawer in your bedroom, they’re just everywhere!

Whilst managing to grab recent bestsellers can prove to make decent flips, it’s typically the more unusual and sought after titles that fetch the biggest profits when found underpriced.

Depending on age, scarcity, what edition it is, and sometimes even the author, several books have been known to sell for millions, such as ‘Birds of America’ and ‘William Shakespeare’s First Folio’. Now imagine finding those in a charity shop!

If you’re a realist like me, you’ll probably know that stumbling across such things randomly just isn’t likely to happen. However, you still may be lucky enough in finding items worth a small fortune instead, for countless books can be bought for pennies and sold for much more if you’re savvy enough to know what to bother with.

It’s also important to mention that just because a book may be old or look attractive, it doesn’t mean it’s worth anything, so be sure to always double check before investing your money.

Home Decor

Everyone has different tastes and wants a pretty house, and that's exactly why this category is profitable.

Aesthetics such as minimalism, alternative, country, boho, and vintage just to name a few, are extremely popular and sought after, therefore increasing the prices within the market.

Items that blend functionality with a room’s vibe, like genuine hide rugs or a vintage bookshelf are always guaranteed to sell at high prices and rather quickly.

Profitable items such as these can be purchased from a broad array of sources, including wholesale, charity shops, or even second-hand sites like Vinted generally for decent prices.

Whilst designing one’s home in a single core aesthetic is appealing to some, inevitably, not all will agree. But that doesn’t mean you’re missing out on potential buyers, it’s just some people don’t have any overarching design and will decide to decorate with whatever they like, which is still an aesthetic, because it’s called eclecticism!

Entertainment

Entertainment is a large umbrella term encapsulating everything from games, film, to music, all of which are things we interact with daily. Books also fall under this category too, but it made sense at the time to separate it due to difficulty in generalising them.

According to studies, these delightful distractions eat an average of 6 hours of our life each day, so it’s no wonder people are willing to spend so much in buying and consuming modern media.

This isn’t so bad though if you’re investing in it for profit, for there’s going to be a market for everything within the entertainment sectors!

With a certain level of astuteness, it’s pretty easy to discern between worthless piles of forgotten media and hidden treasures that can be turned into tidy flips.

DVD boxsets, video games, and even older media such as records and VHS tapes can still be worth a lot. It’s generally easier than you think to find these items undervalued if you know where to look.

We have more access to entertainment, media, and content now than any other generation in history, so one could guess it’s only inevitable that humanity would get sucked into it.

Memorabilia

There isn’t a single thing in existence that someone doesn’t collect, and the world’s endless supply of stuff has people chasing literally anything you can think of.

From plushies, anime figurines, and teddy bears, to more weirder objects such as water bottles, airsick bags, and McDonald’s boxes, it proves there’s someone always wanting stuff.

Popular collectables including Funko Pop figures, Jellycat plushies, and Pokemon cards consistently sell in high quantities and prices. Although these may seem expensive, they quickly appreciate in value and become rarer soon after the company retires that particular product or line.

For the more hardcore enthusiasts out there who’s ‘absolutely got’ to have every single variation and series of something, they’ll be likely searching for the obscure, rare, and unique, which often come with increased value, making them interesting yet profitable treasures to whoever invests in them.

As with anything else, collectable memorabilia is just waiting to be discovered undervalued somewhere, except maybe not as commonly as the entertainment and media categories.

Crafting Supplies

There’s an unbelievable multitude of different crafting techniques and hobbies in the world, and most you've probably never even heard of.

However, knowledge surrounding crafting is largely unneeded, for you’ll be aware that they all share one thing: the need for materials and supplies, which can all be sold!

It often doesn’t matter if the equipment or materials are vintage, for as long as they still work; they’re desirable to someone, and obviously more so if it’s antique or rare.

Not everything has to be old though, because a lot of crafts are modern and also extremely popular thanks to social media pushing a massive surge of interest in mindful, ‘slow’ hobbies.

Although needle felting, punch needle, amigurumi, and many others are affordable and accessible, they remain generally easy to flip if priced accordingly and found for cheap.

Whether it’s an obscure or popular craft, profit is highly likely to be achievable regardless of the item’s age.

Happy Earning!

As you can see, these are just five of countless other profitable niches, as it’s frankly impossible to list them all on a single online post.

The ones featured here are the top performing categories in my experience of reselling, so to ensure authenticity, I didn’t include anything outside of my own personal knowledge.

No matter if you’re just starting out or been at it a while, reselling can benefit anyone who embraces it. It’s common to see online that it has to become a lifestyle and can’t be done part-time or around one’s schedules, but that’s just a myth.

Anyone can sell and make money.
