Envy of the block; perhaps is the phrase the comes to mind when someone cruises by my lakeside bungalow. Despite the phrase, being. ‘envied’ in any way possible isn’t exactly one of the goals or feelings that anyone should aspire to experience.
Nonetheless; I’d like to believe that my actions help inspire other’s to up their game rather than chomp on sour grapes.
Here in the south, when at a random doctor’s appointment waiting room etc; one’s eyes always fall onto the ‘southern living’ magazine. The hues and colors that nod at each season and rustic trend with hopes to inspire within glossy pages to remind us all that indeed the south really in this day and age is supposed to be some sort of vacation spot.
Alas, I shall shy away from that brewing diatribe of clouded sun and explain the inspiration behind such.
Any home; in my opinion- be it a primary residence, a lake side staycation bungalow, condo, pied-e-tierre; whatever should have an edge to suit it’s mood.
In this scenario; I play a scene in my head when a man wants to be ‘friends’ with a woman it is proper for him to give her yellow roses to represent the friendship, rather then anything else that could reflect any sort of burning romance, passion etc.
Me of all people am not looking for any romance at all this decade (but I'm still open to it happening), so nonetheless my home(s) should reflect an earned friendship.
It’s a thin door, pallid and non-expressive of southern seductive velour; typical- bland- but if that’s your thing go for it; however there are too many colors in the world to go bland. As the same can go for people as well. I’m not really into the ‘bland’ types rather those who can express hue and color and are not ‘tunnel visioned’ It’s not a world that has to be reminiscent of an old television set ‘black and white’. Rather a world with many hues and colors that translate different moods and feelings. With time being essentially the most precious of commodities we’ve got to make every action count; more or less put the action to the word. In this currently ‘dying world’ where it seems to be a tough decision whether or not to issue ‘stimulus checks’ to people making less then $75k a year when seemingly bills are being printed every day. Literally, this has one scratching their head. Inasmuch it is common sense that if a lot of bills where suddenly issued for free it’ll hurt the value of the United States dollar. Then again, we’ve got three hundred million people here and counting, maybe everyone needs to do the math; but since clearly they can’t maybe ‘go back to school’. Hmm?
Clearly that meditation broke into a pondering of wayward politics and I focus back on my door;
I’m used to all of the creaks and thumps of the tree’s shifting; a soft breeze cruising up the plain down from the escarpment in the distance; as I attack it all at once from the bottom. I slip into a sort of meditation, with the ease of not having to force random ideas outside of my head. It’s quite simple with the ebbing swish-swish of the paintbrush on the door. A sort of ‘painters therapy’ is evoked.
surprised at the quality of such talent; yet flawed talent (as there are prominent brush strokes on the surface) it still seems to be panning out; and an hour later.
I like it; and I think anyone else with taste would as well. I give myself an A+ for additional curb appeal knowing that this new trend that I’ve had up my sleeve is the first of many. Needless to say, I work to be the change that I like to see in the world rather than point fingers, because when you do- Point at other’s, that is- there are three fingers pointed back at yourself. Try it sometime.
