My Sanctuary

My dream home is a farm out in the middle of nowhere. Somewhere out in Europe out in the middle of nowhere, but also not to faraway from civilization to the point where I could walk around naked if I would like to, at least through the house. A Huge field, beautiful mountains, and plenty of woods to run through. A European style cottage with a barn built right into the bottom of the house, that is large enough for a few horses, goats, chickens, and a few dogs. Off to the side there would be a fenced in field for the animals to graze. The chickens would stay in the chicken coop and the horses and goats would have their own separate areas. I would also like to have a fenced in garden, with plenty of fruits and vegetables, and one or more apple trees.

The house would be a European style cottage with stucco, and stone walls, shingles, a balcony, a gable roof, and large windows to let in allot of light. The inside of the walls would be made of concrete and rebar to make the house strong and sturdy enough to face any storm that hits it. The interior walls would be made of the same thing to make each room soundproof.

The living room would have a window that reaches from ceiling to floor looking out to the mountains. The ceiling would be a half-vaulted ceiling with wooden beams coming across. There would be a large stone fireplace and a built-in wooden bookshelf across from it. There would also be a large couch sitting in the center of the room facing a large flat screen TV, and above it would be a balcony from the office above. There would be two chairs and a small table facing the fireplace so that my husband and I can sit by the fire while reading a book and enjoy a glass of whisky in the evenings and snowy or rainy days. Then two more chairs facing the window with a small table so that I can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the morning while admiring the scenery.

Leading into the office there would be glass French doors. The vaulted ceiling would continue into the office, and In the ceiling there would be two large skylights that open for natural light to shine in and the ability to stare at the starry night sky while brainstorming for the next big idea. In the center of the room there would be two desks facing each other with two large screens, computer, keyboard, and mouse on each desk. At the far end of the room there would be another bookshelf and a swinging bench hanging just under the windows so that I can lay on it while I brainstorm for new ideas enjoying the swaying motion. Then right up against the wall there would be a large box containing my camera gear and my camera bag, ready for me to grab and go when I go out exploring, looking for great views and moments to capture.

The stairs leading to and from the balcony would spiral down, everything made from wood with carvings carved into it for decoration. Just at the bottom of the staircase there would be a hallway with rooms, and at the far end of the hall there is a staircase that leads down to the stalls.

In one of the rooms is the master bedroom, which has a wooden framed king-sized bed centered on the back wall of the room, with a Tempur-Pedic mattress and duvet covers. One side of the room there would be a walk-in closet and a master bath right next to it, as well as a window on the opposite side of the room.

The bathrooms would have double sinks, a toilet, and storage space for towels, toiletries, and bathroom cleaning supplies. Along with a deep soaking tub, deep enough to sit in, and allow the water to go just up to my neck allowing the bubbles to cover my breasts, and space around it have lit candles almost all the way around. A large shower with glass doors, with a step down into it, and sprayers all the way around, with a bench to sit on for me to shave my legs and relax, while the water just pours over my naked body and still have plenty enough room for two. By the tub there would be a window with textured glass allowing natural light to come in. The ceiling throughout the house in every room except for the living room and office would be tiled and every room would have its own tile pattern providing a unique look in every room.

Across the hall would be a spare bedroom with a bathroom. The spare room would have a queen size bed with a wooden frame against the wall and a dresser just across from it. The bathroom would be like the master bathroom but smaller and with a single sink vanity.

On the other side of the house there is a large kitchen with stone walls with cabinets and black stainless-steel counters, a large sink basin and a dishwasher. There would be a large cook-top, and built-in double oven, as well as a large brick oven built into the wall. The room would also have large glass windows going across the room with glass French doors leading out to a large patio and garden. The ceiling would be tiled. For the evening there will be light built under the cabinets and ceiling around the ceiling windows. There would be a small round table with chairs by one of the windows.

Towards the back of the kitchen is the dining room. At the back of the house is a turret, which is where the dinning room is located. The entire room is round and has a large round table in the center of the room. Just above the table is a glass dome and chandelier hanging down from the center, candles mounted to the wall all around the room and a stained window.

In the woods just outside the house there would be endless trails to go horse back riding. Just endless galloping, feeling the wind against my face, while trail riding for hours. This alone would be my sanctuary. A means of escape and disconnect from everyday life. To be able to walk around naked with out judgment if I wanted to. To daydream and feel free to just be me. Just like a home should be, a sanctuary.
