I am going to tell you what in my opinion are some of the best financial literacy books to purchase and this list is in no way exhaustive. Before I begin, I will mention the best YouTube channels for financial literacy in my opinion: Investing with Rose, Ben Filex, thebrownreport.com, let’s talk money! With Joseph Hogue and check out Ray Dalio’s video on How the Economy works. That video is great because you will realize the President and politicians are not helpful to the economy and are not responsible for it during good or bad times. Let’s start my list.

The Millionaire Next Door: In this book you will learn who the real millionaires are and that you too can become one. You will learn that the poor spend like they’re rich and the rich spend like they’re poor. This book will also dispel the generational wealth myth. You will learn a lot about what makes a millionaire.

Everyday Millionaire by Chris Hogan: This book is like the Millionaire Next Door, but Hogan spends a lot of time removing the myths people have about millionaires. If you are a Bernie Sanders or AOC fan you will quickly find out what those socialist are telling you are nothing but lies. He will give you a lot of stories about everyday people that eventually became millionaires.

Money Secrets the pro’s Don’t Want You to Know by Stephanie Gallagher: She will give you hundreds of tips on saving money and how to negotiate with your bank, car dealer, insurance agent and much more. This is a must buy.

Your Bank is Ripping You Off by Edward Mrkvicka: Edward has worked in the banking industry and he will tell you all the ways your bank will try to rip you off and how to defend yourself.

The Richest Man in Babylon: This book is essential in your arsenal. You will learn the 5 laws of gold, how to protect your money and it is told through many informative short stories. This book also spends some time explaining why most are unable to acquire wealth and so few get it and it is not the reason the Bernie types claim.

Money, Master the Game by Tony Robbins: I will say that without a doubt this is one of the best financial books you will read. Tony first breaks down why people do not build wealth and then he uses the big names in wealth building to explain such things as asset allocation, diversification and then he teaches you how to invest your money. Do not think about investing until you read this book. This book is thick and full of information. This is a must have. If you can only get 1 book for now get this one.

Rich Dad Poor Dad: In this book you will learn the difference between an asset and a liability. Although I believe his rich dad and poor dad are just metaphors for what the wealth and the not wealthy teach their kids it is still a good illustration. You can’t go wrong with this book.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: This is not a wealth building book, but I feel this is an important read. This book will teach you better communication skills and how to deal with people better. Most people go for the win/lose but he will teach you to go for the win/win. You will enjoy this book.

Of course, this list is not exhaustive and please read my article on why I feel financial literacy should be taught in schools. I hope you are able to build wealth and have a wonderful retirement. You can’t do worse than me.
