Make Money Online: Swagbucks Review

I've been using Swagbucks for years. And if you've spent any time on the internet looking for ways to make money online, you've probably come across Swagbucks.

With the bad rep that survey sites have gotten over the years, it can be hard to know if you've found a legit site or not. So, we'll be going over if it's legit, how you can make money with it and if it is even worth it in the end.

IS SWAGBUCKS LEGIT?

I am happy to report that Swagbucks is in fact legit. I personally have cashed out with Swagbucks before- $25 to be exact.

Usually, I like to back up my word with photos, but sadly when I cashed out was years ago and despite looking very hard, I can't seem to find a photo for proof.

Don't take me for my word though, Swagbucks actually has very high reviews! They have a 4.3-star rating on TrustPilot, among tons of other bloggers reviewing them as well.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

I decided to recreate an account while doing this review, so I could review it from the beginning. This is what I thought.

-Get your first points by verifying your email and answering the survey about you

It's important to answer the first survey about you so they can give you surveys that relate to you better. Plus, easy points!

HOW CAN YOU MAKE MONEY WITH SWAGBUCKS?

So how can you actually make some good money with Swagbucks?

It's pretty simple really, you do tasks to earn points (called Swagbucks) and when you earn a certain amount you can redeem them for gift cards or actual cash sent to your Paypal!

Here are the different methods you can earn points with:

1. Downloading their extension

The extension is really cool. First, you get points just for having downloaded it. But the real money can be made by actually using it.

Whenever you go to a site to buy something and there is an opportunity to earn cashback "Swagbucks". The extension will alert you about it!

For example, when I go to Walmart.com this is what I see:

Then all you have to do is click to activate it, and you will earn cash-back Swagbucks.

You can also start your shopping trip on Swagbucks.com to see what sites offer cash-back bonuses, and for how much.

SURVEYS

Of course, the best-known way to get points is through surveys.

There's a ton of surveys to choose from. You can see there are different estimated times it takes to complete the surveys, so you can choose ones based on how much time you have to spend.

They've added this new thing where you get "Limited time bonus points" for some surveys. I think it's a pretty cool addition, and it might be best to try and complete as many of the shorter surveys as you can during this time.

There are some downfalls when it comes to survey taking. They say there "Are no wrong answers" but, in my experience, there actually are. If you aren't the demographic they are looking for, or answer a question a way they don't like, there is a chance you'll get kicked out. No points rewarded.

And while this sucks, it's honestly something that you're just going to have to get used to. Generally, you won't get too far into the survey before they kick you out.

Many seem to have a survey before the survey and ask you demographic questions before to see if you're a good fit. Luckily Swagbucks will still give you one point for surveys that aren't a good match, I believe it's only up to 5 a day though.

REFER A FRIEND

You can earn Swagbucks just by referring a friend!

Not only do you get 300 SB, but you get 10% of all of the SB they earn- forever! You can send the code through email, share it on Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr. They also just give you the link if you have anywhere else you'd like to share it.

The other cool thing they have added, as you can see, is getting a friend to download the Swagbucks extension (As I mentioned above).

Here's the kicker though. To earn that 300 extra SB, your friend must earn 300 SB in the first 30 days they sign up. As an incentive to complete it though, you AND your referral will get 300 SB extra.

So, within 30 days, they could double their points and have 600 SB!

WATCH VIDEOS

I'm going to be honest, this is probably one of the lowest return on investments when it comes to earning points. This option used to be so much better, but they've made it worse over the years.

Welcome to nCrave! Probably the hardest way to earn points. To start out, you can see the max points you receive in this screenshot it 2 SB. Look closer.

When you read what you actually have to do to earn those 2 SB, you see you have multiple steps you have to take before you can earn. And the 1 SB are even worse- you have to watch 3 videos.

You technically only need to watch 20 seconds of the videos, or just stay on the page for 20 seconds in some cases. But this means you can’t just leave videos to play in the background anymore like you used to be able to do. You have to be active on the page every 20 seconds in order to get credit. And your reward? 1-2 SB.

Lame!

So while this is a way to get some points, it’s not highly recommended.

PLAY GAMES

You can actually play games to win some points, and while you don’t earn a lot, they are actually pretty fun! While there are some games it looks like you can pay for, they have 3 free options as well.

I’ve played them all and while you obviously won’t earn a lot with this method, I find them to be mildly amusing to play.

EARN BY SEARCH

If you make Swagbucks your default search engine, every time you search there is a chance you’ll win Swagbucks! Obviously it’s not a guarantee but if you’re going to be searching for things anyway, might as well earn money while you’re doing it!

SWAGCODES FROM SOCIAL MEDIA

If you follow Swagbucks on Twitter and Facebook, they give out Swagcodes pretty frequently. If you meet the requirements (EX: Enter the code by a certain time/ be one of 10 to enter it first) then you’ll win the prize!

Pretty simple and a great way to earn extra, but you have to be quick!

DAILY GOAL

This is one of the last ways to earn. Each day you have a “Goal” of Swagbucks you need to earn. If you reach that goal, you get whatever the prize was. It varies every day so check back often!

Even after all of the ways to earn that I have mentioned, there are a few more ways to earn money! So check around!

IS IT WORTH IT?

Now we get to the question “Is it worth it?” And the answer is, it depends.

You have to ask yourself;

-How much time are you willing to put into earning?

-Will you be trying to earn on a consistent basis?

For me, yes it is worth it. It’s definitely not “Quit your job” money but I made $25 for doing surveys and playing games.

Does it take a while? Yes.

Is it worth it? That’s really up to you.
