The Zen style, in the interior design, follows the harmonious interaction between space and form.

Zen, promotes minimalism. Use only what is strictly necessary for a home and each object has a well-defined role. Zen is not adorned and does not attract much attention.

Zen style does not involve exotic furniture, bright colors, or expensive accessories. This type of arrangement offers a calming and calm atmosphere with special effects on the mood.

By arranging your home according to Zen principles, you can offer yourself a more relaxed and peaceful life.

When people think of Zen in their interior design, they think of a room that offers a calm and peaceful environment. Because of the stressful lifestyle we live in, most of us seek refuge in a quiet home that can provide the right atmosphere we need at the end of a busy day.

There is no manual for Zen-style arrangements, but a room that is decorated in a very clean and simple way is the best example. Zen involves few colors, simple lines, and minimal objects. If you like a lot of accessories and decorations, then this style is not for you.

Zen can be used in any room. Provides a calm atmosphere in the bedroom, having beneficial effects on sleep. It can also be used in the living room so that the family can gather in a clean and quiet space. You can use it in the bathroom, kitchen or even in the office.

Elements used in Zen arrangements

The essential elements for a Zen arrangement are clean and straight lines, which are not visually crowded, open spaces, natural and delicate materials, quality and simple furniture, solid colors with minimal impact, taken from nature, and subtle prints.

The general image of a room arranged in Zen style, is a calm and peaceful one, without the presence of elements that stand out, that require special maintenance, or that want to impress.

A basic principle of Zen design is asymmetry. Rigid symmetry suggests artificial perfection, which can be fatal to the imagination, while asymmetry allows us to be more relaxed and spontaneous, more human.

Some methods of applying Zen principles in the living space

Reduce the color palette to calm and "quiet" colors, such as neutral tones, water, or earth.

Remove all small decorative objects, things you don't use, objects with visible prints, colorful rugs.

It frees up space, eliminating any element that is not necessary, such as colorful images (either paintings or photos), objects that you do not use, eye-catching decorations.

Insist on comfort and quality.

At first glance, you might think that interior design based on Zen principles is a radical concept, but this does not have to be the case. For example, you could start with just one area, even a very small one. If you have an office at home, it could be just part of the desk. Turn that area into a clear and calm one where nothing will be disturbing. No decorative elements, no objects, nothing.

Some believe that Zen design is a Spartan image in which you have to refuse comfort. However, tenderness can be expressed through the materials used and the objects around you. Are they pleasing to the senses? Is your furniture comfortable? Do you feel at ease because of the elements around you? Zen design is not about living in empty rooms at all. It is about creating a state of well-being, both for the body and for the soul.

Decorations

Images or natural objects can contribute to a relaxed mood, and certainly have their place in Zen-type interiors. The fewer, the better. As decorative objects, you can place pebbles, cork or bamboo objects, a flower, an image with a fountain, or a sea view. All this fits very well in Zen interiors.

For walls, you can use neutral and warm colors. The same colors can be used for curtains or drapes, with the indication that they are transparent or made of fluid materials.

For furniture, opt for pieces made of natural materials such as wood.

Following these principles, you will be able to transform your home into a sanctuary, into a space where serenity dominates.
