If you’re anything like me, you’re always looking for a way to make a little more money on the side. Either to put it away for a rainy day, buy something nice, or just to make ends meet. I have a very physical day job so I do a lot of walking. So, I decided to look for a way to capitalize off of that! Here’s what I’ve found:

Achievement

Achievement pays out $10 via check or Paypal when you’ve accumulated 10,000 points! This takes some time, but this app takes zero effort. Literally just set it up and forget it until you can cash in on your points!

How It Works:

If you have a Fitbit, all you have to do is link Achievement to the app! You can also link it to the “Health” app on an iPhone to track your steps. There are a number of other apps you can link Achievement to including Map My Run, Google Fit, Microsoft Health, My Fitness Pal, and many others! Achievement will reward you for keeping track of your food and water intake as well as your weight! You can be rewarded for other exercises as well. If you don’t want to go the extra mile of logging all these different categories, you can just set it to the appropriate step tracker for your device and cash in on all that walking!

Sweatcoin

Sweatcoin is a little trickier than Achievement. You only get credit for outdoor steps logged with your phone. So not only do you have to be outside, you have to have your phone on you as well. Sweatcoin uses an algorithm to check how far apart your steps are to keep people from cheating—completely understandable, but makes the app slightly less appealing. Especially, for those of us that like to do our walking on a treadmill.

How It Works:

Sweatcoin requires you to either have the app open in the background or to set it up with the built in step tracker on your phone (i.e. the Health App on iPhone). The latter may result in some missed steps, though. The app will convert your steps into Sweatcoins that you can then redeem.

Approximately 2,000 steps is equal to 1 Sweatcoin. There are currently four “subscription” levels within the app. The “Mover” subscription is free and allows you to earn up to five Sweatcoins a day. The next level up allows you to earn up to 10 Sweatcoins a day, but will cost you just under five Sweatcoins a month. You can subscribe to whichever level suits your earning the best!

Rewards work a little differently, too. You earn “Sweatcoins” that you can cash in for offers. These aren’t always cash, but rather products and discounts. If you really want a cash payout, you’ll have to save up or get some of your friends to join! The more invites you get, the more cash payouts become available. It’s an interesting system. You can find some cool new companies to try for free!

Both apps are completely free! If you walk a lot in your day to day life, they’re worth checking out and earning some easy cash and rewards! Happy earning!
