For a perfectionist, one of the biggest challenges of general cleaning is to eliminate the dirt that forms in the joints of the tiles.

Where there is ambition, an old toothbrush can be used to brush them for hours on end, but sometimes we need small tricks to get the job done quickly and efficiently.

Did you know that you can use wax to clean grout and tile joints? Here's a simple method that will save you hours of hard work!

How to clean tile joints

If you want to have a house on the moon, but you don't want to spend all your free time on it, you will have to learn a few tricks in the household that will help you get rid of the hassle of cleaning faster.

One of these tricks is to clean the joints of the tiles with a simple white candle, which you can find in any store. All you have to do is rub the tiles together with the edge of the candle, using it like chewing gum.

Not only will the dirt be removed, but you will also create a protective layer that will keep your joints clean for longer. It would be advisable to wax them every few weeks so that they do not darken or turn yellow from the dirt. The water will also be kept away from the wax, which means that no more mold will form!

Other simple solutions for cleaning tile joints

If too much dirt has accumulated in the joints of the tiles, it may be necessary to wash them first with other solutions and only then to wax them, so that your work is sustainable.

It is important to clean the joints, especially those in the bathroom, not only for reasons of hygiene but also because they collect black mold, which can be very dangerous for the body. When you come in contact with him for a long time, he can cause cough, asthma, and lung problems.

For very dirty joints, there are several solutions:

  • solution with water and vinegar: this can be used for almost any surface in the bathroom and kitchen, vinegar being one of the most effective natural products for cleaning the house. All you have to do is mix equal parts of water and vinegar, put the solution in a sprayer, then apply it on the joints. Leave it on for 15 minutes, then use a soft sponge to clean the joints.
  • steam cleaner: if you invest in such an appliance, you will be very satisfied, because it can be used to wash countless surfaces. It releases a jet of hot steam, which immediately removes dirt, both on textiles and surfaces such as tiles.
  • baking soda bleach: create a baking soda paste and bleach, then apply it to the joints of the tiles, leave it on for an hour and wash it with a damp cloth. If you use this solution, you should wear a mask when applying the paste, as it releases chemicals that are dangerous if inhaled. Make sure the place is well ventilated when using the paste and do not sit there until you rinse it.
  • dishwashing detergent mixture, vinegar, salt, and water: another effective solution for cleaning tile joints is made of 250 ml of vinegar, 10 tablespoons of salt, and 250 ml of water mixed with 2 tablespoons of liquid dishwashing detergent. Apply this mixture on the tiles, leave it on for about 10 minutes, then rinse well.

A very good idea to prevent dirt from accumulating in the joints of the tiles is to apply the vinegar and water solution once every few weeks. If you want to clean the bathroom, spray the solution on the joints before taking a hot shower.

Along with the steam, this solution will completely clean the joints, and you will only have to wipe them with a cloth.

To get rid of the hassle of rubbing them for hours, the joints of the tiles must be kept clean with the simple solutions above. After all, it is much better to make a small effort from time to time than a big one once a year!
