Achieving the Bohemian vibe in your home can be very easy, cheap, and fun. The Boho style is still trendy because it is carefree, free-flowing, and comfortable.

Bohemian style (Boho chic) has been around since the early 1890s. It was believed to be the nomadic lifestyle of the Romani people.

Through the years, Bohemian fashion and style have transformed many times over but always embraced flowing fabrics, woven materials, and neutral colors.

Adding a few colors synonymous with Boho, faux plants, and simple decor can achieve this very down-to-earth style. Time to get playful!

Colors:

The color palette of Boho classics is of Earthy tones like terra cotta, mustard yellow, and olive green.

If you want a more modern Boho color palette, a neutral color of creamy whites, ivory, and warm wood colors works best. Using black, soft greys, and slate blues to create a stylish contrast adds to modern sophistication.

Bright colors can also be considered very Boho, with styles of tropical flowers and paisleys mixed with geometric patterns or neutral shades like White Dove, Stone Brown, or Cloud White.

Greenery:

There is a lovely realistic selection of greenery you can add the Boho greens into your home without having to take care of. Plus, if you are like me and have a pet, Faux is toxic-free as long you don't have a pet that eats everything.

Some plants are:

Fiddle Leaf Figs

Monstera

Eucalyptus

Delta Ferns

Cacti

Pothos

Philodendrons

Pampas

These can be placed in woven baskets, pattern vases, neutral vases, and pots.

Decorations:

Bohemian designs evoke comfort and encourage out-of-the-box thinking. There is a free-spirited allure to this comfortable style. It's about mixing textures, patterns, and neutral tones with vibrant contrasting colors.

A lot of these nick-nacks you can find at Thrift shops or Amazon. Some items that would work are:

Glass Lamps

Chandeliers

String Lights

Oval or unique framed mirrors

Ornate frames or mirrors

Colorful throw pillows

Table Runners

Elephant Decor

Yoga Cat, Dog, Elephant Statues

Jute runners or area rugs with tassels

Wall art with Boho quotes and phrases

Furniture

Rattan is very popular, as the light-colored wood is part of the Boho color palette. Low seating poufs, large floor pillows, vintage-style ottomans, or a hanging chair also help create a chilled, relaxed environment.

Another idea is to go with handmade furniture that is unique and different and adds to the cultural element that's part of Bohemian vibes.

Fragrances

Having some potpourri, scented candles, or diffusers around your home with these scents can add to your Boho relaxed vibe.

Sandalwood- warm and woody

Vanilla- homely and sweet

Patchouli- earthy and musky

Cedarwood- outdoor and earthy

Eucalyptus- hints of mint, honey and crisp

Jasmine - sweet and fruity with a touch of sensuality

Frankincense - very spiritual, sweet and warm

Final Notes

Remember, with the Bohemian style, its it's about being free and having your own style. No one Boho room will look the same. It's a beautiful style for writers, creators, artists, and people looking to express themselves.

To help you get into the vibe, here are some fun inspirational Boho quotes.

"She's wandering, roaming bohemian woman with hair that flows and eyes that know."

– Wren Wilds

"About me: I like the smell of earth, the touch of waves, the taste of berries, the sight of trees, the sound of laughter, and the feeling of being fully alive."

– Hannah Nicole

"It's plain to see that the romance has slightly slipped from the Bohemian lifestyle. But we're literary Gypsies, all of us, and it's only recently that we're starting to realize we're not alone. The Internet connects all the healers and storytellers, the wild people and mystics, the writers and painters, and the slightly cracked ones. I've always loved wild people."

― Karl Wiggins, Wrong Planet - Searching for Your Tribe

Hopefully, some of the design ideas land for you and you find your path with creating your own Boho style.
