HooLiv is live with over 300 beds across critical locations such as Bhubaneswar, Meerut, and Pune. Founder’s Vision

Chinmoy Mishra’s vision behind his start-up HooLiv is to contribute to hassle-free affordable housing and coliving alternatives. He highlights that student housing is one of the most disordered sectors in India.

The current housing options come with their own set of challenges varying from unhygienic living conditions and inadequacy of privacy to lousy food and local infrastructure. The team’s vision is to renovate and modify these accommodations and delivers their student-customers with a standard of living those they so deserve.

Challenges Faced

Every startup faces difficulty during their startup journey w.r.t to working capital, discovering the right talent, resource retainment, etc. But, COVID-19 is the issue which all businesses are facing at the moment.

The popularity of CoLiving was peaking as cash-strapped millennials were starting to warm up to it. So, in this respect, COVID-19 could not possibly have come at a worse time.

The fundamental values that the founders of HooLiv highlight are coliving setups, such as collaboration and community, which is fundamentally contrary to the principles of social distancing. So, quarantine measures and a focus on social distancing will hit the co-living sector hard.

According to them, ventures will have to teach much good hygiene and social distancing practices in their day to day operations of properties.

Fundings

New Delhi based Co-living startup raised an unrevealed amount of funds from KPFO. The startup intends to invest the funds in fundamental hire verticals and collaboration with a professional and skilled team and understand Nuances of the real estate sector.

HooLiv is not just a niche for students to stay but also to learn, collaborate, and improve their employability factor. It is unlike the traditional PG’s, which are mainly just providing a place to sleep or focussing on Tier1 cities where the student expectation with regards to amenities is very different.
