Designing new things with wood and making common household furniture on your own is a common and quite exciting way of spending some leisure time. If you are a DIYer, you will probably have your own workplace in your garage or your backyard. If you try to recall your starting days as a DIYer, you will understand the long journey you had to go through in order to become a DIYer that you are today. The numerous tools you have to use to give shape to your projects can often prove to be difficult to use. This is especially true when you are new as a DIYer. Thus getting some knowledge from Miter Saw Buzz about the various equipment and understanding some tips and tricks of woodworking can often prove to be rather useful for you.

Tips for Efficient DIY and Woodworking Projects

There are several tips for efficient woodworking projects as a DIYer. If you can utilize these tips, it will make things much simpler for you while designing your own project with wood. Here are some of the tips for your benefit.

Measure efficiently.

There are several projects which require you to measure very accurately. You may even have to measure up to the 16th of an inch. If you could do such measurements like a professional, it would make things very easy for you as a DIYer. Always write down all the measurements you take in eighths. However, leave off the eighth. For example, if you measure 34 5/8th inch then, you will have to write it off as 34 5. Similarly, 16 1/2 inch will become 16 4. When you have to go to the 16th, you will write it down as a strong (+) or a weak (-). For example, if your measurement says 29 5/16th inch, it will be written down as 29 2+.

Prevent the wood from splitting.

When you try to hammer down a nail pretty close to the edge of the wooden board, the wood often tends to split. You may try hitting the tip of the nail with the help of your hammer in order to dull it. Now when you try to hammer down the nail, it will simply press through the wood and not cut it with the help of its sharp tip.

Fit in drywall perfectly.

When you intend to lay drywall over the electrical boxes, simply rub a stamp pad all over the front of the box. Once this is done, you may line up the drywall and press it carefully against the electrical box. This will transfer the ink to the rear side of the drywall. As a result of this, cutting it in perfect shape and fit will become easy.

Keep your hands free from paint.

While painting your woodwork project or even a room, paint tends to run all over your hands making it extremely messy. You may easily prevent this from happening by simply coating your hands with good quality and thick lotion. This will also help you easily remove paint from your hands while washing it. If the project is big and you have to paint it over several days or multiple times a day, do not forget to apply the lotion every time you wash your hands.

Get rid of wood stain from your nails.

It is needless to say that you need to wear gloves while doing various staining projects. If you forget to do so, it can easily make your knuckles and fingernails dirty. You will have to use a homemade sugar scrub in order to remove the stains. You may have to scrub for a long time in order to get your hands back to their old look.
