Control Pests In Your Household

Every household has its least favourable visitors and, in most homes, these are the pests. These tireless creatures can ruin your day, but they can also ruin parts of your home! Insects, mice, or termites are all pretty annoying and really unhealthy to be around. However, getting rid of them can be harmful as well, especially if you use strong and toxic chemicals to do so. That is why you should consider trying out some of the natural ways to control pests in your home.

Citrus peels

If you like citrus fruit, you probably like its light and refreshing smell as well. Certain species of pests don’t like this smell at all. Spiders, mosquitoes, and ants are all likely to stay away from your home if you simply put some citrus peels around.

The most effective way to keep the pests away with citrus peels is to rub the peels strategically. You should know what the problem areas are. For instance, the windowsills, doorways, and bookshelves are the best areas for this.

White vinegar

If you have trouble with ants, you may already know how persistent they are. They simply won’t stop coming to your home. The main reason for this is that ants leave a trail of pheromones when they move. That means that other ants follow this trail and keep coming to your house.

It may seem like it’s impossible to get rid of them, but that isn’t true. All you need to do is find the source and destroy the chemical trail. Use some white vinegar for this and you’ll solve the issue permanently.

Diatomaceous Earth

Diatomaceous Earth may sound a bit weird, but it is actually a 100% pure, organic, and safe product used for pest control. Roaches, ants, flies, fleas, scorpions, bedbugs, and even caterpillars can all be kept away from your home with this simple product.

This talc-like powder made from fossilized remains of tiny marine phytoplankton causes abrasions in the exoskeleton of insects. Get some in wholesale diatomaceous earth store and look how effectively it will solve the pest problem.

Cucumber

A lot of insects simply hate cucumbers. Ants, moths, wasps, and mites are just some of the insects that will definitely stay away from this vegetable. Place cucumber slices and peels on every entrance. This way, every insect with natural cucumber aversion will stay outside.

However, you shouldn’t forget to replace the slices or peels frequently. If you don’t, you may end up doing the complete opposite – attract the pests. Namely, they will come to the rotting food, so make sure not to let this happen.

Herbs

Finally, you might want to keep the pests away from your outside areas. For instance, you may want to have your garden pest-free. Using harsh chemicals there might be harmful both for you and your plan, veggies, or fruits. On the other hand, herbs could help you with pests without damaging anything.

Basil, rosemary, chives, mint, and lavender are some of the best allies you might have in your fight against the pests. They repel mosquitos, flies, and beetles. The best thing about this type of herbs is that it can attract some helpful insects such as pollinators or predators. All of these will improve the state of your garden and help you live carefree, at least when pests are concerned.

Conclusion

Even though pests are part of nature, that doesn't mean that they have to be a part of your home. Instead, you may use nature to keep them away from it. Make sure to try some of these tricks and combine them to get rid of the annoying pests as soon as possible!
