When we start renovating, we are embarking on a mission that can often be more difficult than we think.

Even if the bathroom is essentially a small space, think about the multitude of utilities it houses, their uses, and the catastrophe that can be caused by the poor functioning of any of the sanitary installations.

In reality, a bathroom renovation requires thorough knowledge, a visionary plan, and smart planning as much as it requires investment and professional manpower.

In the same vein, experts urge us to consider "so-and-so" with as much wisdom as "so-and-so". Today we tell you what mistakes you can make when renovating your bathroom and how you can get around them!

Have you decided to renovate your bathroom? First of all, take a look at these pitfalls in which many owners fall: their detour can be synonymous with that intimate space, dedicated to relaxation, utilitarian, and at the same time invigorating that we want to be built in our bathroom.

That's why you should be careful when renovating your bathroom!

You start renovating without any plan

Is unpredictability your number one character trait? Although we will not deny that there are situations when spontaneity is more than desired, they do not refer at all to the renovation of the bathroom.

It is true that any space you intend to renovate needs careful planning, accurate calculations, and firm decisions, but these are even more necessary when it comes to the bathroom.

If in the case of the bedroom you can move the new bed a few inches to the right to make room for a dresser in the bathroom, the simple idea of moving the sink from its place because you put your eyes on a fancy toilet bowl will be more than problematic.

Replace, instead of repair

It doesn't matter how limited your bathroom renovation budget is. In some cases, repairing is much wiser than replacing it. We make every effort to move beyond the era of consumerism and try to leave as little waste and garbage behind.

So there is no point in replacing the whole shower system when only the end of it is broken or buying a new bathtub when the one you already have is perfectly functional and only needs a drop of email!

You choose expensive when you can choose cheaper

Here is a new concept that fits perfectly into the new eco-conscious philosophy. Although we will not deny that quality plumbing has a higher price and we will always recommend you to avoid bargains, in certain situations you do not need too expensive parts in the renovation of the bathroom.

For example, a walk-in shower, although it looks better, will offer practically the same experience as the classic one, only at a much higher price.

The same can be said for stone bathroom floors or wooden bathroom furniture sets: they will break down much faster and will not be worth the investment in most cases. Is it worth paying so much for a wow picture on Instagram?

Don't take into account the bathroom ventilation system

Here is an aspect of the bathroom renovation that you should not skimp on. If the natural ventilation in your bathroom is insufficient, a ventilation system is a must-have.

Not only will it eliminate unpleasant odors, but it will also protect your investment from the greatest possible danger, mold. Much quieter, more powerful, and more efficient, the new ventilation system is superior to the traditional variants and is worth all the money.

You renovate the bathroom yourself

Are you skilled enough or do you have a friendly partnership with the installations and the craftsmanship, so you decide to be brave enough to take care of the renovation yourself? Do you have as friends all your friends who are just as good as the tutorials on Youtube?

We are not necessarily saying that it will not work, but it is quite likely that your commendable initiative will end in a small disaster, one that will prove to be extremely costly, with any irregularities having to be repaired by a professional.

You have several bathrooms and you start with the largest

It's natural, isn't it? That way you get rid of what's bothering you faster! Unlike work projects (and this approach does not always work for them either), bathroom renovation is better-done step by step.

Instead of starting with the largest room, it is better to start working in the children's bathroom or the one dedicated to guests. This way you will gain experience and learn valuable lessons that you can then apply in the main bathroom.

Choose sophisticated materials for the bathroom floor

Believe us, we have nothing against solid wood floors in the bathroom, on the contrary, we consider it to look so cool… but not in our house, but in that of the stars. In reality, the wood is not resistant to moisture at all and will rot as you would say "failed renovation".

Equally beautiful, but unrealistic, are the stone bathroom floors (the stone is porous, so unsuitable for moisture, cold, slippery, and expensive) or parquet.

On the other hand, it's not for nothing that tiles, porcelain tiles, and vinyl are "immortal classics" on the bathroom floor: they prove to be much more practical and infinitely more durable and cost-effective than the options above.

These are the most common mistakes you can make when renovating your bathroom. Avoid them with the grace we know you are capable of and you will have a 100% successful project!
