We like to surround our lives with beautiful, attractive objects that turn our home into a mini-paradise of rest. But did you know that some of these decorations or pieces of furniture that you may or may not need to attract bad luck?

Popular superstitions are often ridiculed, but you will shudder when you realize that most are based on explanations that sound quite logical, even to our modern ear.

Swing

How to throw it away when it's the definition of relaxation? After all, the rocking chair reminds us of childhood and books full of adventure or romance!

Are you sure? We want to bring another image to your eyes now: a rocking chair in a dark room, which begins to move on its own.

Didn't I change your mood? According to an Irish superstition, the rocking chair is an invitation for evil spirits to take their place, and if it starts to sway suddenly, it is clear that it has already found an occupant.

Cacti

Here is another presence from the list of objects that bring bad luck that causes us amazement.

The explanation is as follows: according to Feng Shui specialists, thorny plants attract quarrels, anxiety, or disturbance. This is also the case for agave, but not for the rose because the delicate beauty of the flower manages to eliminate the negative vibrations.

A broken watch

No broken object has anything to look for in your home, let alone a watch! If it no longer indicates the passage of time, your life may stagnate or not progress at all.

Feng Shui experts are also the ones who insist that you have to throw away or turn back any clock that is no longer working because it may also cause death! You know what Marie Kondo would say, don't you?

A calendar that does not match the current date

Did you like a calendar, so you still keep it? Just don't find time to turn the tab on your office calendar and live permanently in the past (or future)?

You have to take the initiative! An old calendar can bring bad luck or even shorten your life, according to Feng Shui masters!

Stuffed animals

We don't think we could agree on a superstition like this! Honestly, we don't even need an explanation: we are sure that the poor dead animals will bring us bad luck.

Moreover, the specialists draw the attention of hunting enthusiasts that stuffed animals are not only a boo-boo for guests but also potential home buyers. Equally unlucky are the works of art depicting destruction, such as battles or ships about to sink.

Dead or dried plants

Maybe you still hope to bring it to life, but most likely it won't. Potted plants that have put an end to their community and vase flowers that have already dried must be quickly removed from your home.

Most superstitions indicate that they attract negative energies. Besides, who wants to have something like that in the house?

An open umbrella

Do you remember what our grandmothers used to tell us? That if we play with the umbrella around the house, will it rain at our wedding? But superstition is much older than that, coming from ancient Egypt.

The explanation was that people who used objects in the house to protect you from the bad weather risked angering the protective spirits of the home, insinuating that they were not able to do their job properly. It's already making sense!

Unmade bed

Something tells us that this superstition is very likely to have started with a mother or a girlfriend who is tired of always making the bed, but it is certain that … it works. The unmade bed brings bad luck because it causes you to start on the wrong step in the morning, with an unfulfilled duty.

Moreover, it seems that if you are interrupted when you do, a white night may be waiting for you. But making your bed in the morning is also an exhortation of some of the most productive people, so this superstition should remain imprinted in your heart.

Green paint on the walls

If you already raise your questioning eyebrows, find out that this superstition has the strongest scientific basis. In the 18th century, some of the paints used to paint the walls green contained an arsenic-based compound, the inhalation of which caused health problems or even death.

Even after this ingredient was removed, the green paint still retained its reputation as "unlucky."
