We often spend a lot of money on cleaning products, without thinking that we can make serious savings if we give up all the chemicals on the market and use the natural ingredients we have at hand.

Lemon is one of those products with countless uses, even if it is about cooking, beauty, natural treatments, or cleaning around the house.

We present, further, 7 uses that lemon peel has in maintaining the cleanliness of the house!

Lemon peel: how to use it for cleaning

You probably already know that lemon juice is used in various combinations with other ingredients as a detergent, but the peel of this fruit is just as useful in this regard.

Maybe until now you only used lemon peel in desserts, but it's time to learn how to use it when cleaning the house because it is very versatile in this regard.

1. Natural detergent: all you need is a few lemon peels, a jar, and white vinegar. Put the shells in the jar, then cover them with vinegar. Put the lid on the container, then leave this combination to soak for 2 weeks.

Then strain the liquid using a piece of gauze. Double the amount of liquid using water, then you can wash any object with this natural solution. You can forget about the skin affected by all the chemicals in regular detergent!

2. Natural insecticide: it seems that the aroma of lemon peel keeps insects away. You just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people.

It also works in the case of kitchen beetles and ants, two types of insects that are very difficult to get rid of once they have entered the house.

3. Refreshing the air in the fridge: no matter how much you take care of the fridge, the smells still appear, and not a few times they are unpleasant. And if a product happens to break down, that unpleasant smell doesn't seem to go away even after you clean the refrigerator.

Well, the solution is simpler than you think: put a few lemon peels on the refrigerator shelves and they will absorb all the unpleasant odors. On the same principle, you can put lemon peel in or next to the trash and you will get rid of the smell it emits.

4. Natural air freshener: you can indeed find on the market countless products meant to make your home smell wonderful, but you already have all the necessary ingredients in the kitchen to prepare a perfect air freshener yourself.

You need some lemon peel, some cinnamon sticks, and some orange peel. Boil them in water and the whole house will be fragrant.

5. Cleaning the shredder: you probably don't even realize how many bacteria can accumulate on this object so common in any kitchen. The natural acidity of lemon has antibacterial properties, which is why it is indispensable in the house.

After cleaning the shredder, rub its surface with lemon peel and let it take effect for a few minutes, then rinse.

6. Cleaning the microwave: Sometimes it can be a real chore to wash this appliance, but the lemon peel helps you this time as well.

In a glass or plastic bowl, put some water and a few lemon peels, then turn on the microwave for at least 5 minutes on high intensity, so that the water boils and steam forms. Then, carefully remove the dish from the oven and wipe the walls with a towel.

7. Polishing: even stainless steel objects collect residue on their surface and get a dirty look. For this problem, the solution is not difficult at all: sprinkle some sea salt on the surface of the object, then rub it with a lemon peel.

You will immediately get rid of residues, stains, and grease. In addition, the object will look new.

So you can use lemon peel every time you clean the house. It has antibacterial properties and, in addition, is a natural air freshener that refreshes your atmosphere in the house, making it fresher.
