6 Things to help you relax and keep calm

1. Read and Tea.

Coming home after a long day at work can leave you completely exhausting. However some including myself still need time to wind down and relax. Make yourself that nice cup of herbal tea , pick up your favorite novel and sit back and enjoy. Take some time for you. To take it one step further grab a fuzzy blanket and curl up in your comfy chair. Come one admit it we all have that one chair that we just love! Nothing like a hot cuppa tea and a novel to drift into a couple hours of pure relaxation.

2. Puzzles and Games.

Puzzles come games come in all sorts of formats and styles. Most are quite challenging , especially that 5000 piece puzzle you’ve been itching to tackle. Same goes for games. Games can range from monopoly and that one video game your always trying to beat. The puzzles are a great gateway to exercising our minds. It keeps our brains not only busy but keeps us entertained. So next time theres a snowy or rainy day grab your family and pull that puzzle out. To top it off you can make a platter of cheese , crackers and your favourite deli meat to satisfy your munching needs!

3. Knit - Crochet - Sew

The world of yarn can be an incredible thing. There is an infinite amount of creations to be made. I personally have always leaned more towards the crochet side of things because it was the easiest thing to learn. Recently though I’ve been branching out and doing for knitting projects. Of course I have more things cast on then finished , which im sure a lot of you can relate to. Picking up needles or a crochet hook can be more relaxing than most people would expect. Your hands are busy , your mind is focusing on keeping you stitch count correct. Before you realize a couple of hours have passed by. Soon you’ll get better without realizing and be able to watch your favourite tv show your movie at the same time. Happy creating.

4. Bake

Rainy day inside or not feeling the wether? Why not bake? Take out that flour and those eggs and get whisking. Now you don’t have to go big or go home. Whip up a batch of your all time favourite cookies. Maybe even a pie. Everyone love pie. Not only is it hours of fun but your house will soon be filled a mouth watering aroma.

5. Walk or Run

Yes I said it. Put on some comfy workout attire (do check the wether first) and those running shoes. Connect with nature is sometimes all we need to feel that sense of calm. Walk slowly , follow that chirping bird to see how close you can get. Try to catch that butterfly! If your more of the adventurous type make your walk with nature into a hike. Hiking can make for good photos or videos to share with your friends and family. If you want to take it one step further, pack a picnic for one and some reading material. Take a long pause and enjoy the scenery.

6. Drawing and painting.

Bored a need a nice wind down activity? Why not bring out the paints and the brushes? And before you go and spew about how you can’t draw or paint let me tell you something. You don’t have to be a professional artist to paint or draw. It’s called free expression and having a good time. So dip your brush in that paint palette and start creating your own works. It not only a peaceful quite pass time but can produce amazing works that you can look at and say “ I created that”.
