5 Ways to Reuse Mint Tins
Reuse, Recycle, Reduce Tips
I love buying mints, especially in tins. It feels so fancy. But then a problem arises. Do I throw away the tin or not? It feels like a shame to just throw it away for various reasons. For one, it feels wasteful and is pretty wasteful. For another, they sometimes come in cool designs. Of course, you don't want a pile of tins sitting around, becoming unnecessary clutter. For that reason, I compiled a list of a few ideas on how to reuse these tins.
Mini-First-Aid Kit
Personally, I'm a little klutzy, so I sometimes end up hurting myself. So, I like to carry a few bandages around me where ever I go. Of course, they could be hard to find in my bag if they are loose, so it's nice to have something to put them in. I got this idea after losing my original mini-first-aid kit. I thought of just getting a new one, but after coming across a tin I had laying around, I thought of just putting a few bandages in from a bigger first-aid kit I keep in my room.
Game-Dice Storage
Play Yahtzee? How about Monopoly? Or maybe you're a teacher who uses dice for some of your lessons? It could be easy to lose game dice, so I thought it would be a good idea to store it in a mint tin. Most mint tins like the Altoids ones will be a good size for your dice.
Cotton Swab Storage
To be completely honest, this idea came from when I got a tin (not mint tin) of cotton swabs in a stocking suffer, but I thought it was a good idea, so I like to reuse that tin for cotton swabs. This could be useful for travel and will easy fit in your bag.
Candy Stash
This is a nice alternative to letting candy fly free around a bag. Not to mention it could be a good way to hide your treats from family members that might try to steal from your stash.
Vitamin/Pill Stash
So, I'm a university student and often eat meals in a dining hall which is a five minute walk from my dorm. I originally tried to just take a vitamin in the morning with a cup of coffee in my room. It was a bad idea because I got a stomach ache not too long afterwards. You're supposed to take them with food but, again, I usually eat in the dining hall and the bottle was, in my opinion, too bulky to carry around. Recently, I've been carrying them in a mint tin. It fits in my purse and looks better than the bottle. You could also carry prescription pills, but if you take them throughout the day, a pill organizer is more convenient. Just make sure not to confuse your vitamins with actual mints.
Conclusion:
I hope this was useful in helping you to find ideas in reusing tins. In today's world, we could be quite wasteful and take what we have for granted. It is important to remember that many of our resources are limited and we need to find ways to conserve them so we don't run out too soon, you know, before we could exploit the resources some other planet (I'm joking of course).
As I mentioned before, I am a college student, which is one reason I try to recycle somethings, but also one of the reasons I write DIY's and articles similar to this one. I think it somewhat helps develop my writing skills as well. So, if you enjoyed this article, please leave a tip. It will help to cover my weekly laundry expenses, not to mention I like to put some aside for future DIY projects and possibly a better camera for the photo I take during the DIY for my how-tos. If you cannot leave a tip or want to share then please share this across your social media platforms with someone who may like this article. Thank you and I hope you are doing well.
