New year, new room?

With the New Year, your teen has many plans, including revamping their bedroom. To help you support him, here are 3 good resolutions to adopt for his bedroom.

Resolution # 1: choose a character color

Because teens are not lacking in character, they need a decoration in their image. We then choose with them a color that is close to their heart and that we will apply to a section of wall. Black, red or electric blue, for example, will work very well in a trendy teenage bedroom, as will bright yellow, which is also a bright color full of pep's.

Also think about furniture and accessories that can adopt this color. Scandinavian or industrial, colorful furniture has been very trendy in recent years. Whether it's a wardrobe, desk, or even the bed frame, let them choose one or more colors they like to create a colorful environment. You can also simply repaint the furniture already present - right in the up cycling trend! - so as not to have to buy back furniture they already have.

The colors can also be used on accessories such as a rug, a pretty duvet set, cushions, wall decoration ... It is a good solution if you do not want to start painting work .

Resolution # 2: light up the room

The teenager's room is a living room in its own right: teenagers receive their friends, devote themselves to their homework and also sleep in the same space. Also, it is important to offer them suitable lighting that can be modulated according to the activities.

We think of a good desk lamp but also of lighting to accentuate the brightness of the room like a floor lamp. Some models have a system that allows the lighting to be modulated according to their needs. You can also simply opt for a modular bulb, which can be adjusted using a small remote control. Some models can even be colored to change the mood as you wish!

Another important light in the bedroom: a bedside lamp will be a real asset to allow teenagers to read a book before sleeping. Also choose a model that they like, more or less design. Finally, you can add decorative light fixtures like string lights. In the form of a curtain or a simple LED garland, they are more of a decorative element than a real source of light. But they allow you to create an original or cocooning atmosphere in your teenager's room. Some models even have small clips to hang photos and other souvenirs, like a moodboard.

Resolution n ° 3: let them express themselves

Teens need to express themselves! So to leave them a field of expression, we put on a space of freedom with for example a wall in slate paint, or a jumble so that your teenager can pin his photos and other papers. Rather than seeing the bedroom disappear under the posters and photos, it is better to delimit this space!

Do not hesitate to direct them to very trendy poster sites, which add an artistic and original touch to the decoration of the room. Framed or simply pinned to the wall, these posters bring color to their room, while remaining artistic.

Do not hesitate to really involve them in the planning of their new room, instead of imposing your choices on them. Obviously, you have to set limits from the start - especially in terms of budget - but let them arrange their rooms as they see fit. Low-cost decoration and home furnishings will be your best allies to decorate your favorite teen's brand new bedroom.
